What is Ketto?
Ketto is a crowdfunding platform which connects social causes with individuals and institutional donors.
It is an online platform that allows NGOs to put up their projects or causes and raise grants for the same. Grants can be raised via fundraisers that can be started by any member of the platform including individuals who supports the organisation’s work or cause.
How does Ketto work?
Please refer the “How it works” section on the site
How is Ketto different from other online giving platforms?
Ketto is one of its kind platform in India that provides various social media tools and applications to its members for fundraising activities.
Ketto connects donors directly at the project level, in contrast to organizations that run projects but maintain control over how contributions are allocated or spent.
Enabling donors to give directly to projects offers them more choice. Donors can browse through a broad range of geographies and themes such as health, education, environment, among others and they know exactly how their money will be used. In addition, our highly-efficient online giving platform allows donors to connect and communicate directly with NGOs.
The process of creating a cause for an NGO will not take more than 10 minutes of their time. They can directly share their cause with their colleagues, friends and family via Facebook, Twitter and Email which in turn reaches out to a whole new network of donors.
Unlike other online fundraising platforms which charge a commission anywhere between 6-10% and offline intermediaries which charge anywhere between 20-40%, Ketto does not charge any commission allowing maximum amount of money to be donated to the Project of the NGO.
How much of my donation reaches the NGO?
Ketto does not keep any % of the amount donated. 100% of the donation amount is forwarded to the NGO.
What tax benefits will I get?
For Indian Tax Payers : U/s 80G of the IT Act up to 50% of your donation is deductible. Tax receipt is generated on donations made to any Project on Ketto.org
I've lost my receipt. What do I do now?
Please contact info@ketto.org
Can Ketto send me a receipt by post or courier?
We normally do not send certificates by post or courier, to keep our overheads low and to ensure that the maximum amount of money can reach the NGOs you are supporting. A printed copy of the PDF receipt is adequate for your tax returns and for claiming a deduction, since it carries the transaction details and our 80G registration number.
I would like a copy of the Sec.80G certificate. Where can I find it?
Ketto provides the 80G number on the receipt itself, in keeping with Income Tax Department rules. You do not need a copy of the 80G certificate to claim your deduction.
Who/What is CAP India?
Ketto has partnered with Centre for Advancement of Philanthropy, India, a 25 year old organization which is a resource centre specializing in areas of not-for-profit law, taxation, financial management, resource mobilization and human resource development. The Centre has more than 400 members comprising a fairly representative cross-section of corporate bodies, grant-making foundations, NGOs and professionals involved in the field of philanthropy. CAP India will be routing the donations made by the donor directly to the NGO as part of a mutual understanding between Ketto and CAP India.

I like what Ketto is doing. Can we donate to Ketto?
Yes. Please contact info@ketto.org
Why do I need to sign up to make a donation?
As a platform, all donations are tracked based on a userid assigned to each donor. We require this for internal tracking purpose. Also, we need your information to send you reports and feedback. User name is needed for points tracking as well. The Government of India requires us to keep track of the full address of each donor. Please be assured that Ketto will not use your personal details for any other purpose.
What is a User name? Can I change it?
User name is the user id assigned to your account. This is also used for tracking your donations or fundraising activities. You cannot change your username due to internal tracking reasons where Ketto will not be able to keep a record of your donations, contact information and points collected.

Payment Methods?
I want to know the different ways that I can pay for my donation?
You can use your credit/debit card or netbanking to transact securely online.
You can also donate by cheque if you do not prefer giving details on the internet. Minimum amount for a cheque donation is Rs.10,000.
I want to make an online credit card/ debit card donation. Is your site secure?
You can feel secure while passing on personal information on the Ketto site because: - For user registration or login, we provide you the option of Thawte SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) with 128 bit encryption for highest security. - 3D secure filter is active for both national and international cards - In order to preserve user's confidentiality, the login passwords are encrypted before being stored. - The information that we capture is minimal - only the basic data that law requires us to obtain. - Ketto does not capture or store your credit card or banking information. You enter this information directly on the Bank's website while making a donation.
While making my payment through credit card/net banking I got an error message. How will I know whether the donation was successful?
To check status of your payment, please click on My Donation History on the left panel after you log in. Your payment has been received if your status shows Verified, Credited, or Disbursed, and has not been received if it shows Cancelled. If it shows as Pending, please wait till the status is updated. Note that the verification of payment in such cases is a manual process. Hence, please allow 2 working days before you check with us for an update on your payment status.
I made a net banking/credit card/debit card donation, which has been debited from my account but the status of my donation still shows as 'Pending'. Why is that?
Sometimes, when making net banking/credit card/debit card donations, the money reaches the payment gateway provider but does not reach Ketto's accounts. In such cases, the transaction goes into 'pending' mode. As we receive the money from the gateway, we manually confirm receipt of the same and update the status of the donation from 'pending' to 'verified'. This may take upto 72 hours.
How can I find out about the status of my cheque?
You will receive your certificate from Ketto after your cheque is credited.
Why was my cheque not accepted / returned?
Your cheque was returned to you because one of the following was missing or incorrect
» Transaction No. (which you get after making the donation)
» Your signature
» Date
» Donation amount (difference in amount written in figures and words)
» If there is an overwriting on the cheque that has not been signed
» No account balance (cheque bounced)
» Cheque was made favouring the incorrect name
While I was paying by net banking, my 'session expired'. Now what?
Your session expired due to security reasons. This happens, simply, when you take too long to make the direct debit payment and don't manage it in the specified amount of time. Go back to the Ketto home page and start over. We know it's annoying, but it's all for security.
Why should I donate through Ketto instead of directly donating to the NGO?
Ketto doesn’t charge any admin fees except for the nominal fee that is charged by the payment gateway provider. Ketto ensures your money reaches the NGO for the cause/project you have donated. Ketto provides multiple payment options
Ketto gives you complete flexibility on choosing not just the NGO or the cause you wish to contribute to, but also the impact you would like to create.
Ketto ensures NGOs update you with the progress of the project/cause for which you have donated and a feedback report
What is the minimum I can donate?
Rs 100 or 2 USD. (if you are paying online)
Rs 10000 (if you are paying by cheque)
How long does it take for the donation to reach the NGO?
After you donate online, it may take around 24-72 hours for your payment to be approved. Ketto disburses the donations of a particular month on the 10th of the next month. This is applicable for donations made in India. Ketto disburses the amount to the respective NGO every month.
What are the various ways to make a payment for donation?
Ketto has tied up with Event Avenue as Payment Gateway partners where you can pay via Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card. And you can also pay by Cheque or DD. Instructions for the same will be provided.
How do I know my donation system used by Ketto is secure? – Event Avenue

Payments made by us to NGOs will be by electronic RTGS/NEFT transfer from our account, made by an authorized employee only. RTGS / NEFT transfers are extremely secure - all internet banking accounts use firewalls, data encryption, digital certification, as well as use other security measures, such as allowing no memory caches on the browser.
Does Ketto charge a fee?
Ketto doesn’t charge any admin fee on the donation. There’s only a payment gateway transaction cost which is 3-4% depending on the mode of payment which is charged.
What happens if a project receives only a small portion of the funding it requests?
We have a waiting period after which we process whatever amount is raised for a particular project. Please note that these are on going projects for which the NGO raises money from different sources, Ketto being one of them. Ketto puts in all efforts to ensure a project does meet a minimum requirement in terms of the total amount but cannot guarantee an amount.
What is a project?
A project could be a long term or short term campaign for which an NGO needs to raise money. Only NGOs can create a project. A project can be created under any of the pre-defined categories. A project will have all the details mentioned such as, the total funds needed and about the NGO that created the cause.
What is a fundraiser?
A fundraiser can be started by all members including individuals on Ketto. A fundraiser is started in favour of a project that one wishes to support by raising money from friends, family, colleagues, etc by sharing it on Facebook, Twitter and Email. A fundraiser can be started by clicking the "Start a fundraiser" button on the project listing page.
What type of a fundraiser can I start?
You can create any type of fundraiser as long as it’s not derogatory in any manner. We leave it up to the freedom of the individual for how they would like to raise funds. It could involve running a marathon or hosting a party with your close friends and raise money for the cause you like to support. One can simply create a fundraiser page and share it with your Facebook, Twitter friends, or with family and colleagues over email and need not necessarily carry out an activity.
Where does the money donated to a fundraiser go?
A fundraiser can only be started for a ‘project’ created by an NGO on Ketto. All the money donated to the fundraiser goes only to the benefactor which is the NGO for whom the fundraiser was created.
Explanation on Points System.
To reward you for all your efforts in starting fundraisers to even donating money, we have a points system in place where we will be including gifts at a later stage once enough points have been collected. Here’s the breakdown of how the points system:
1. Signing up - 100 points
2. Start fundraisers - 50 points
3. Every rupee donated equals that number of points- Rs. 500 is the min amount
4. If others people donate through your fundraiser - Every rupee donated through the fundraiser equals that number of points x 2
Why does the donation receipt show donation made to CAP India?
Since the Ketto has tied up with Cap India for routing donations, and also for the purpose of providing you instant donation receipts, the donation is made to CAP India, a Sec. 25 company, who further disburses the donation amount to the NGO whom you have donated to. CAP India issues the 80g certificate.
Who can create a fundraiser?
Any member of Ketto can create a fundraiser for a cause they wish to support.
Who can create a cause?
