About the Fundraiser

Dear Friends,

I’m Ayaan Kapadia and I am a student at JBCN International School, Parel. I’m raising funds to support Habitat For Humanity which is providing essential kits to the families that have been affected by COVID-19.

About the initiative:

The pandemic has engulfed the entire world. The rapid spread and lack of vaccines has made it difficult to curtail the disease. As a safety measure, the Government of India has further a 21-day national lockdown to 40 days with an aim to flatten the curve. However, amidst the lockdown, people who are affected the most are the daily wage earners or those living in vulnerable conditions who have no safety net to fall back on. Many of them are staring. Even though the Government is taking commendable measures to reach out to vulnerable families, the need is immense.

What Habitat For Humanity is doing to help?

Habitat for Humanity India has stepped in to sensitise and raise awareness on the importance of hygiene and sanitation through our WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) program.

As the country implements unprecedented measures amidst the global health emergency, they are supporting families and individuals by providing them with family essential kits and hygiene kits.

To practice caution, Habitat for Humanity India is not deploying their staff on ground but is working in partnership with state governments, local government administrations or government agencies.

Our collective action can save lives

Habitat India will join hands with local District/Block/Village level authorities to spread awareness. Habitat will leverage on its local office and implementation partners who in turn will engage with the health network of the local authorities to coordinate with CBOs, SHGs and local organisations to identify community workers.

Keeping in view the guidelines released by the Central Government and State Governments, we will not be organising any mass gatherings. As much as they wish to be on the ground to help, the best thing to do now is to follow the guidelines laid down by authorities and support them through all possible means.

Work done and the families supported

They have provided family and hygiene kits in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Delhi. With your support, they can expand their relief kits to all the needy families.

Donations made to Habitat for Humanity India are eligible for Tax Exemption under Section 80G. Habitat for Humanity India has been awarded with 1A – the highest rating by CRISIL.
