"Bhavanarishi is the progenitor of Padmasali clan. His witness is the subject of the devotees' faith in Sri Mannarayan.
He was the "Bhargava" Shrestha born in Bhrigu clan. He is Veda Shirsha (the head of the Vedas, Bahuttama, Vastra Brahma, many titles. He is the best sage who clothed all the worlds and saved human lives. He is the son of Sri Markandeyu. He is known as Sri Bhavanarayana Swami. He was born in Vaisakha Shuddha Panchami Mrigasira Nakshatra.
Bhrigu Maharishi married Khyati Devi, daughter of Daksha Prajapati. Their children were Dhata, Vidhata, Sri Mahalakshmi. Mahalakshmi was married to Lord Vishnu. (Durvasa Mahama cursed Vishnu and was born again in the sea ) Dhata-Ayatila's offspring was Prana Markyu Dadhichi. Vidhata - the offspring of Niyati Devila Sage Mrikhanda, Manaswini (daughter of Sage Mudgala). Markandeya, a Brahmagyan, was born to Sage Mrikhanda on the boon of Lord Shiva. Bhavna Rishi and Panchama Rishi are born to Markandeyu and Dumravati. Among them, Bhavanarishi Srimannarayana, the eldest, appears as the one wearing the Sahasra Dala Padma in his hand. He was known as "Veda Shirsha" because he was a scholar of all sciences by birth, equal to Brahma, and he was named "Bhavanarayana" because he was the form of the emotional power of Sri Mannarayana's mind. Sri Bhavanarayana Swami was born in Mrigasira Nakshatra on Vaisakha Shuddha Panchami. He not only slayed the demon Kaluvasura, but also created clothing as a destroyer of nudity and became worshiped by all the worlds.
Markandeya learns about Alpayusshu and performs penance and gets the boon of eternal life from Lord Shiva. At the same time, deities and sages complain about clothes or their lowly status to Lord Vishnu. Vishnu sends him assuring that only Markandeya's descent will remove their low status. As per the wish of the gods, Markandeya married Dumravati who had reached his prime and sacrificed his son Kameshti, giving birth to Rishi Bhavana and Rishi Panchama. They ask their father what they should do when they grow up. Markandeya tells him to go to Vishnu as per the order of Shiva. Knowing that this is all divine work, Bhavanarishi went to Bhadravati for the tiger skin and brought the tigers, when Narada instigated the demon Kaluvasura to come and fight with Bhavanarishi. In that battle, Bhavanarishi got tired and Koonapuli was born from his sweat and helped Bhavanarishi in the battle. He kills Kaluvasura in battle and uses his body parts to build a loom and make cloth. After that, according to the wish of the gods, Bhavanarishi married Bhadravati and gave birth to one hundred and one children. All of them are known as Padmasali and are flourishing as one hundred gotras".
