About the Fundraiser

Hi !

This is Mr. Aibanroi Wahlang and Mrs. Belitha . G . Momin . We run a private school in a small village in Rongjeng , East Garo Hills, Meghalaya. The name of our school is Little Blossom Infant School. We opened in the year, 2015 with just 5 children, which has now by God’s grace increased to 118.

Before we  opened our own school, we both were teaching in two separate schools. It was such a wonderful experience but at the same time very heart breaking. In the line of education, present education policy system in rural Garo Hills is a failure. There are so many Primary Schools in Garo Hills, but the result is all disappointing. Children don’t even know  how to read and write. Children in rural Primary Schools are not even being given the basic education needed and  this is because  most of the teachers are not dedicated to their work .

When we were still teaching, children had a very hard  time understanding us since they had no proper understanding  of the English alphabet .These children have no proper foundation. They could not even read fluently or pronounce simple words . Seeing this , we really felt sorry for them . Every evening when we are together , we used to share our daily experiences and everyday it’s the same discussion. We felt that a good educational institute is needed here for the children . So one fine day , we just decided to open our own school .

We are not saying that our school is the best but whatever  we do , we do it with heart . We opened this school because we feel for these children and wanted to give them quality education and proper foundation. We have children from different family backgrounds , most of them are from poor families where both parents work as labourers or doing some petty jobs . We also have children whose deceased  father  were involved in militancy and there are some  children who are studying for free of cost.

We have classes from Pre-Nursery  to Class I . Our school is a kutcha school with no proper classroom setup for the children. We have 4 teaching  and 2 non-teaching staff. The reason why we are writing this is that  we want to help these children . We want to give these children  proper classroom setup , furniture,  etc. , but with low school fees it is difficult to manage and live up to our plans . We don’t have any other source of income , we manage with just school fees and admission fees for everything. We love these children and we are trying every possible way to help them . We even tried loans from the bank but its all in vain . But we are not giving up , we know with patience and faith and with the help and support from you all we will be able to make it . We are no great people but if we try nothing is impossible . Like what Malala has said , One child and one teacher can change the world . But we are not one and we are not teaching just one child. So help us and support our school to live up to our vision of imparting quality education and foundation so that these children may become the future agents of change .
