Give Life to HIV AIDS Infected Children

Mellow Circle - Prathyasha Home of Hope for HIV Affected Children is situated in Chennai, Tamilnadu. India. 

Over the last decade, Prathyasha has touched the lives of over 60 special needs children. At present we have 13 such children in our care.  

Our mission is to provide as normal a life as possible to these children. This means we have to start with the most basic which is, impeccable management of their health, through proper medication and nutritious food. If this need is not met then, their longevity is reduced considerably. Health and diet are two top priorities when they start with us.  

We ensure monthly check-ups at ART (Anti-Retroviral Treatment ) center at the Children’s Hospital, Egmore and at YRG CARE (Y.R. Gaitonde Centre for AIDS Research and Education (YRG CARE). are done regularly. They are constantly monitored for Viral Load and CD4 levels . We follow a diet as suggested by a registered dietician at the ART Center. This rigid and consistent care enables them to attain an optimum level of normalcy. Now they can at least begin to dream of a future like any other children.  

Next on our priority is education. All of our children attend (Public Schools) Government Schools. Besides this, in-house tutoring and study hall guidance is also provided for those who require it. Along with academics, inculcating values, social and life skills also play a major role. All our children are encouraged to pursue hobbies and enjoy organized indoor / outdoor games. They are also trained in basic computer skills. They are taken for picnics, movies, circuses, and other occasions where they get to savor a bit of what the more privileged ones enjoy. 

Through the years , Prathyasha has run purely on the generosity of well wishers and philanthropists. We raised funds with our own Musical and Theatrical events, where our members contributed their time and talents to put up stellar performances.  

We now find ourselves in a predicament. The situation with the pandemic has become a stumbling block to raise funds through our live performances.  

This appeal comes as a humble request to join hands with us to give wings to these children . Some of them have lofty hopes and dreams and with your generosity, we can make it happen.
