As you probably know, I’ve been volunteering with U&I and investing 2.5 hours every week, tutoring and mentoring underprivileged children. It’s been a rewarding journey and I’ve seen incredible talent, creativity and intelligence in the children we reach out to.

U&I volunteers are joining hands to raise funds for these children, who deserve a shot at building their dreams. Join us as we #BridgeTheGap. You and I can be the change. We may not change the whole world. But we can change the world for the children we reach out to.

About the Non-Profit

U&I is non-profit run by a group of passionate young people who are committed to social change through education. U&I reaches 850 children every week through their after-school Learning Centers spread across 10 cities in India. Through free, personalized tutoring and individualized mentorship, U&I makes sure that none of their kids falls through the cracks. Their vision is to help kids stay in school, excel in their academics and, eventually, gain access to jobs that can help them break out of the cycle of poverty.

Why Give?

In India today, 56% of kids drop out of elementary school. By high school that number rises to an alarming 90%. These kids drop out because they can’t cope with the system. Their performance is much below grade level, they lack personalized attention and academic resources, and they lack role models. Here’s where U&I comes in. Every week, U&I teachers reach 850 children through tutoring in English, Math and Science. With a tutor-student ratio of 1:3, these at-risk children receive the individual attention they need to succeed.

Your donation will help these kids stay in school – and off the streets. With every grade completed, the child’s eventual earning potential goes up 10%. Education is the only way out of poverty. And it’s the only way forward - to reach their dreams and pursue their goals.
