Diya Ghar is an NGO that was set up in 2016 to provide pre-school education and daycare facilities for children of migrant workers. They started with one centre in Ramamurthy Nagar, Bangalore and have grown to have three centres in the city. We have been associated with Diya Ghar and its founders since 2018 and have seen their impact grow every year.

This year, during the nation-wide lockdown, Diya Ghar was able to reach out to 76,500 families with dry ration kits, through partnerships. Currently, Diya Ghar is continuing to provide nutrition and education to around 850 children every day. With the pandemic causing all schools to be shut down, they had to transform their in-school Montessori learning to a Community based model. They send video lessons and enable each child with learning kits. Additionally, they are identifying and training 'Community Champions' who then teach children within these communities. They also have a weekly distribution system to provide supplies of eggs, milk and porridge powder for the children.
