About Us

We are a team of four who work at Teach for India ( a non-profit NGO working in the education space) and have committed ourselves towards bringing about the change we wish to see in our education system as part of our 2 year Fellowship with the organization. We teach 117 students in their 8th Grade at Vinay High School, Vashi Naka, Chembur - a low income private school. The school is itself located in the  heart of MHADA colony, Vashi Naka. 

The Team:

• Siddharth Padmanabhan is an engineering graduate from BITS Pilani, Goa and he joined TFI as a Fellow after working for 2 years.
• Surekha Madhivanan did her engineering from NIT Surat and had a few years of corporate under her belt before she joined TFI.  
• Reuben T John, a graduate from IIT Roorkee, is an architect who decided to teach as a TFI fellow right after graduation.
• Sharon Pereeia: Sharon is our newest teacher and was working before she joined the fellowship at TFI. She has done her Masters in digital graphics. 

As Teach for India fellows, we have committed ourselves fulltime towards bringing about this change and use the skills we have accrued over college and schooling towards providing not just good but excellent, well-rounded education to children. We hope to bring about changes that would see the system demanding not just any school education as a basic right for children but a great, wholesome one for every child to access. We hope to become an inspiration for our own students and others around us to carry on the message and the responsibility; to create a wave from a tiny ripple in the field of education in India. It would be truly amazing to see where India would stand just by moulding our children the right way, the right time.

The Cause

We want our children to be good human beings who would work consciously for the benefit of society. In 10 years, our students would be done with their undergraduate studies and moving on to wherever their area of interest may lie, be it higher studies to further said interest or a line of work catering to the same. In 5 years, they would be able to make an informed and independent decision to pursue an education of their interest. In 1 year, more students will participate in national-level examinations such as Olympiads, ASSET and scholarship exams and perform at par with national standards. This would be make them aware of the stiff competition that they are to face and empower them with the belief that they can compete at national level.

To truly impress upon them the need to place good human values above all and expose them to various opportunities available to them , we will bring in people from different walks of life who have not only excelled in their field of interest but have also contributed to society significantly.

Over the next year the class will internalize the class values of RESPECT, EMPATHY and TEAMWORK and uphold these values in class.

 Funds and Appeal

Sadly, after all the effort and commitment put in, it is sheer financial constraints that inhibit our children from getting where they want to be. We believe every child should have the right to reach where she wishes to regardless of her social, economic, cultural background. So would India, if it truly wishes to see itself on a path of development.

The answer here lies in YOU. Your contribution to the cause would not only help put these children on a life-changing path, but also India on to the path of development that we wish to see it on.
