The Covid-19 lockdown in India has resulted in millions going hungry because of no work! While the government is putting in all efforts to curb this virus, it is an uphill task against starvation. The private & non-government sector have stepped in to support the government in the relief work as well.
#YouthFeedIndia is one such initiative by young informed citizens like you who began this movement on 21st March 2020 to provide dry ration food provisions packs for the Daily Wagers, Construction Workers, Widows, Single Parent Units, Migrant Labor, Marginalized Communities, Hostel Youth, Beggars and street children who are out of work due to the Covid-19 lock down.
Youth Feed India was initiated by Mr. Shaaz Mehmood (Hyderabad), Ms. Tanya Mallavarapu Reddy (Chennai) & Ms. Deepti Kat (Bangalore) along with 21 other Young Indians from across the country. Ms. Sania Mirza, acclaimed sports person, is the Patron for the initiative. In collaboration with the Safa Society (Hyderabad) represented by Ms. Rubina Mazhar, Ms. Fareesa Khan & Mr. Ali Naqi, the initiative started accepting donations has grown rampantly with the mission to provide care packages consisting of dry provisions like rice, dal, oil, tea, turmeric, tea, sugar salt, soap etc to the worst effected during this time.
Each package costs around Rs. 500 & would suffice a family of 5 for about a week. These packs are being procured from wholesalers in the regions with the intention to infuse liquidity into the local economy. The packs are distributed by NGO network volunteers that are asked to follow hygiene protocols to limit the spread of Corona.
