Help for Fabric Bags, Support Plastic Bag Ban!

I am an entrepreneur, I am passionate about the environment & social causes. I feel each one must do something to give back and help restore our beautiful planet.

Cause:

India generates 5.6 million tones of plastic waste annually, and the country accounts for 60% of plastic waste dumped into the world’s oceans every year, estimates suggest. Three of the world’s ten rivers which carry 90% of plastic to the world’s oceans are in India–the Indus, the Ganga and the Brahmaputra, according to an October 2017 article in Environmental Science & Technology, a global journal.

About 1 million seabirds and 100,000 animals die each year globally from ingesting plastic or by getting tangled in nylon fishing line, nets, six-pack plastic can holders, and plastic rope, according to estimates.

The plastic ban in India is honestly a failure till now. Bans will not be successfully imposed if people are not made to understand why the product has been banned in the first place. Sikkim has done that successfully, and it is high time others follow suit. The adverse effect of plastics should also be spoken about more frequently.

Most shopkeepers and vegetable sellers whom we spoke to said the government needed to start with regulating polythene manufacturing and provide low-cost alternatives.

I have seen animals eating food with plastic bags & dying. Chemicals used in plastic is harmful to the environment.

We want to make cities of India free from plastic carry bags. We envision a future of India greener than today, we want to create a greener tomorrow. We all know there is something wrong with our current system and we are not doing enough to keep our environment livable.

To encourage people, we will support this cause by distributing Fabric Bags in residential areas, markets, shops, etc. We will run awareness drive at the same time so that people realize how harmful plastic bags are for our mother earth.

 We are starting with bag distribution and awareness drive in Delhi NCR and soon will find a self-sustainable model to support this cause and take it to other locations. Please help us and help our environment.
