Feed hungry children on the streets to help raise funds for educating girls
Hi Everyone,
At The/Nudge Foundation, we have 1000s of such stories to share of courage, determination, grit, hope and the will to keep trying EVERYDAY. Please support us in making this possible for more girls... more dreams realised everyday.
As part of my fundraising activity I will be taking up a different challenge every week. This week I will be feeding hungry children on the streets to raise funds for educating underprivileged girls like Jyothi. I hope you will become a part of our journey.
Meet Jyothi, she was only 13 years old when her parents got her married. For a poor family marrying away their daughter meant one less mouth to feed.
Within a year, she gave birth to her first child and by 16 she was already a mother of two.
Her husband was a drunkard and beat her often. Soon after, he passed away leaving her with no money, and the responsibility of taking care of two children.
Jyothi had never gone to school or worked before in her life.
The Gurukul Experience
Jyothi joined The/Nudge Gurukul where she got a chance to learn, earn and lead a better life. With a dream to give her children a better life, she persevered and worked hard.
She got placed in a beauty salon. Her dream became a reality and she is currently living her dream.
Now what?
Here is how Gurukul program is changing lives of underprivileged girls like Jyothi...
Our impact
We have already graduated over ~4000 youth, we have scaled to an annual capacity of training 3000+ underprivileged youth with ~90% of youth from rural backgrounds, and more than 50% being women.
In 2019, we plan to reach an annual run-rate of 5000+ students. We need your help to do that
