ABOUT U&I TRUST

U&I creates platforms for young people to step up, lead and be the change through the power of volunteering. Co-founded in 2011 by Satish Manchikanti and Ajit Sivaram, U&I was born when a few friends began teaching English and ICT to students from underprivileged backgrounds. U&I has since grown into a large group of passionate volunteers.

U&I currently reaches 39+ cities across India, positively impacting 2000+ underprivileged children through its U&I Teach initiative, where volunteers are equipped to teach and mentor children. U&I Teach enables students to meet their fundamental right to quality education, helping them fulfil their dreams and aspirations.

We wholeheartedly believe in the work we do; investing in the lives of students who wouldn’t otherwise have a shot at succeeding in life.

ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN

The COVID-19 Pandemic has widened the gap in learning outcomes for Indian students. The Gap includes plummeting enrollment rates, reduction in access to quality education, skyrocketing dropout rates, as well as declining levels of foundational literacy and numeracy. The Annual Status of Education Report (ASER), conducted by Pratham and the National Achievement Survey (NAS), in collaboration with the Government of India, is clear evidence of the Gap. It’s evident that the vast majority of those unable to bridge the Gap come from underprivileged backgrounds.

It’s incumbent on us to #FighttheGreatestGap. The power of YOU and I to stand in the Gap is greater than ever before; together, we can fight for the empowerment of our demographic dividend. The next four weeks give each of us the opportunity to do our bit to #FighttheGreatestGap. You have the power to help bridge the Gap for India’s underprivileged and fulfil their potential!
