Chamar RELIEF FUND

Hello Friends,

    As a brand, we are proud to represent talented craftspeople who belong to Dalit community, which has been historically ostracised, and is still deeply misunderstood.  

Chamar is a design initiative built on the crafts heritage of this community.

Social justice is in our DNA, and we champion the principles of sustainability, recycling.

    Our team is small, talented and closely-knit. We are cobblers, leather craftsmen, weavers, stitchers, young creatives and sales associates. Chamar Studio is supporting 13 artisans meaning supporting approximately 70 to 80 extended people from artisan's families.

    The Covid-19 lockdown has hit our community hard. Most of our artisans live in Dharavi, which has been declared a Covid-19 hotspot in Mumbai. We are fortunate that our craftspeople and their families have not been infected, but the pandemic has a severe impact on their livelihood due to cessation of activities.

    We need to help them and we would be grateful for your support.
