Senior citizen has been personally cooking to feed 110 stray dogs everyday for the past 11 years.
I am sharing the selfless service for over 11 years by a senior citizen who has been personally cooking to feed over 100 poor stray dogs with zero publicity
• Ms. Rai, a senior citizen residing at Sankey road has been a resident of Bangalore since 1966. She started feeding a small no of dogs in the Vasantnagar area around 11 years ago.
• She currently feeds 110 dogs: 60 dogs in the Cant Railway station area and a temple nearby - 3 times a week and 50 dogs in the palace grounds -2 times a week.
• A group of 20 dogs is in a deserted area inside the railway colony and are completely dependent on her for food and water for which she has even built a small concrete block tank.
The dogs’ food consists of (1) rice mixed with chicken bones and liver and (2) glucose biscuits
• She personally cooks the food at her home and it is delivered by her driver Prasad in the evening
• I asked her what she does for those that might need medical treatment.
• " when we can catch the dog, we take it to a vet . Otherwise we consult with a vet and we put the med in the food.
• For eg: The young black dog is a Distemper survivor (see photo)
• Distemperium drops were put in his food and he pulled through.
• Her appeal for help: "Since I am not an NGO and have been using my own money for this work it is now extremely difficult with the cost touching Rs 44000 a month for the food.Rice 500 kgs Rs 9000 Biscuits 18000 milk 7000 Chicken and liver 10000.
• Nonfood expenses are the driver's salary in 9500 and petrol approximately 2000.
• Her family have asked her to stop as the expenses are too high for a retired individual. However, she does not have the heart to stop as the dogs are dependent on her for their daily feed
• “Since the temple dogs and palace dogs are dependent I need help in order to continue feeding them.the cost for food for 1 dog is Rs 500 a month selfless service for these poor stray dogs “
• If you wish to sponsor a few dogs your kind help would be most appreciated.
