About U&I

“Ordinary people coming together can make a huge impact and difference in the lives of many.” Basing itself on this firm belief, U&I took birth in 2011, aiming at connecting volunteers; driven to create a positive impact, with children from underprivileged sections of our society, for the purpose of these kids’ education.

Today, U&I is operational in 35 cities across India, impacting 2000+ children through its U&I Teach initiative - a volunteer-driven program where volunteers are equipped to teach and mentor children year after year, the larger aim being enabling these children to live up to their dreams and aspirations by means of having access to their basic right to education. Our volunteers’ testimonials and words of thousands of children whom we have reached so far, speak volumes about this initiative of ours and the credibility of U&I. Other than personalized tutoring, we are also committed to students’ holistic development and have programs designed specifically to cater to such needs.

About the Campaign

Given the Covid-19 pandemic, we switched to a digital platform to connect with students in a safe and responsible manner. Despite the many changes and revisions in curriculum and methods of connecting with our volunteers and students digitally, we have ensured that our online classes are as effective as they were during the offline mode and we can proudly say that we have effectively been able to connect and collaborate, inspire and teach – even through virtual lessons; all given the hard work of our Volunteer Community, Staff and the support of our Corporate Partners.

There however always remain more scope and more to offer and ensure that these children live up to their dreams and aspirations. The way we see, these upcoming four weeks are just an opportunity where each one of us can do our bit and #fueltheirdream. For children from underprivileged sections of society, you have the power to bring about this positive twist in their lives. You have the power to help them rewrite their stories and shape their future as more bright and full of potential.

Where student dropout is a sad reality globally and in India, “In January 2020, for the first time, the school dropout rate in India was less than 3%, but covid-19 will undo that, say experts. Apart from parents losing jobs, another common reason for children in India to drop out of education is poor digital infrastructure. Many regions face 14 to 16-hour power shutdowns, especially during monsoon.”

Assistance and support from your end will help us reach out to more such children from underprivileged backgrounds and will also help us continue to effectively remain committed to our cause of enabling children to access education, so they can go on to pursue their dreams and have a promising future ahead of them.
