Help Feed And Rescue Distressed Animals During Lockdown

The pandemic is not only affecting the humans, but it has made the life of all the voiceless animals miserable. RESQ, an NGO, working towards rescuing and feeding animals is trying to do its best for the abandoned and stray animals in Pune.

Following the lockdown and social distancing protocols, the RESQ team has been operating at a bare minimum. We have fewer supplies and only a skeletal workforce but we are trying our best to function as an emergency rescue facility for animals in distress.

 We continue to attend to rescues, the life threatening and critical ones.

Just last week we rescued pet dogs who had been abandoned in their homes when the owners fled the city before the lockdow

Responding to distress calls - Whether it is a cat or bird stuck in the tree or a dog or leopard fallen in a well.

Helping orphaned baby animals who have lost their mothers

Restaurants, street-side eateries, food stalls and even meat markets have closed their shutters, and this has left several needy strays in a quandary over where their next meal is coming from.

Besides feeding and rescuing the ones we do; we wish to support as many animal feeders in the city who are tirelessly feeding hungry street animals during the lockdown.

Over 200 animal feeders in the city are running out of dog food to feed stray dogs. These stray dogs depend entirely on the kindness of the local community for their meals. We want to purchase enough dog food to provide 50,000+ meals for the volunteer network to feed these hungry animals.

Your contribution, even the smallest amount, can go a long way in ensuring that RESQ continues to have the resources to provide for the voiceless.We want to make sure that during this lockdown period, these creatures who share our surroundings with us continue to lead safe and happy lives.

Why do we need your help?

1. Purchase 10-15 Tonnes of Dog Food for distribution to the network of 200+ stray dog feeders in the city. This will help them give over 50,000 meals.

2. Purchase animal feed for the 150+ different animals at the RESQ Centre. We currently have so many different species of animals from dogs, cats, and birds to monkeys, horses, deer, cows, donkeys etc. each with their own specific dietary needs.

3. Purchase fuel & medical supplies for our ambulances that get distress calls every day for animals despite the lockdown. These ambulances are used to conduct no-contact deliveries of food as well across the city.

4. Purchase masks and sanitizers for our staff to reduce the risks of working outdoors during the pandemic.

RESQ has been working in Pune city for over 14 years and has helped over 70,000+ animals till date.
