Help Us Raise Funds For Richa Bharti's Legal Aid!

Richa Bharti, a 19 yr old college student from Jharkhand, shared a post on Facebook that criticized the thief Tabrez Ansari. The post was on the lines of why didn’t the exiled Kashmiri Pandits didn’t take up arms and become extremists while the others did.

An FIR was filed against her by a local leader from the Anjuman Islamia Committee on the grounds that post she shared had hurt his religious sentiments. The FIR was filed immediately, and within 2 hours she was arrested by the SHO on Saturday.

If the arrests seemed bizzare and motivated,the judgement given by the Ranchi Court judge was even more questionable! She was granted bail on a condition that she must distribute 5 copies of Quran! Judicial Magistrate Manish Kumar directed Richa Bharti to donate a copy of the holy book to Anjuman Islamia Committee and rest four to the libraries of different schools and colleges.

The tolerance which is preached to the majorities in this country is seldom expected from the minorities. There have been instances when the faith of the majorities have been blatantly abused, but we have all let the pass in goodwill. But when a girl shared a Facebook post written by someone else, the minorities of that place made sure they used the law to intimidate, threaten and harass the family.

This campaign has been started so that the girl’s family gets enough funds to fight this legal battle! We believe that this is the time to stand with the family and help them financial and moral support.

The beneficiary of this fundraiser is the girl’s father, all the funds raised through this campaign will be deposited in his account for her legal aid.
