Help! A shocking accident changed Ajay’s life. He’s fighting to stay alive.

A few years ago, Sarvesh and Vimla Devi lost their older son in an accident. This loss broke them. But they knew they had to be strong for their younger son so they tried hard to keep their family stable and happy. 

On November 12th, 2023, their younger son – Ajay – was on the way home from a Diwali puja when he met with a terrible road accident. He’s currently on a ventilator, unable to open his eyes or hear his parents cries. He doesn't even know that two of his cousins died in the same accident. 

Sarvesh and Vimla are in danger of losing a child, again. They need our help to stop this from happening.

On November 12th, Ajay and two of his cousins were returning home from a Diwali puja. They hopped on their bike and started riding down on a one-way road.

Unfortunately another bike came speeding in the wrong direction and rammed into them. Before anybody could react, the crash threw Ajay and his cousins into the air and then on to the ground. His cousins died immediately. Ajay was left unconscious. Local witnesses of the crash acted fast and rushed Ajay to a hospital. Unfortunately, they knew it was too late to save his cousins. 

Doctors responded quickly and found that Ajay's head and brain had been badly affected in the crash. The pounding of his body on the concrete resulted in broken bones. Doctors managed to stabilize him and waited for his parents to arrive.

“When they told us Ajay was in an accident, our hearts dropped. How could this happen to our family again? When they told us he was in the ICU with severe trauma to his entire body, I collapsed onto the floor,” Vimla recalls.

Ajay's father - Sarvesh - is a farmer who earns ₹10,000 a month at most. When he heard the news and found out his son needed surgery immediately, he sold the only thing he owned -- his own land. That money was not enough so he also borrowed money.

This was enough for the doctors to perform the first round of surgeries and keep him under observation. But Ajay is still on a ventilator, because he is not out of danger yet.

The only way for him to recover fully is with further treatment that costs ₹8,43,500 ($10115.52) — money that his family doesn't have.

All Ajay wanted was to study hard, become a doctor and take care of his community. But he may not get the chance to, if he doesn’t get the treatment he desperately needs.
