About the Fundraiser

Note: 9-month-old baby Yash is suffering from a chronic liver disease. The only way to save his life is liver transplant which will cost a huge amount. His parents are in dire need of funds to end their baby’s sufferings and seek your help.

Bhavna and Baleshwar hailed from families with very limited means. When they expected their first child, they were determined to overcome poverty. Baleshwar, who worked as a laborer, began working overtime to provide for all of his baby’s needs. The shabby painting on their cupboard was replaced by two colourful jars with the tags ‘baby’s health’ and ‘baby’s education’. Every morning, Baleshwar would put little money in both the jars, with hopes of collecting as much money as he could for his baby’s future. Despite the hardships, he made sure that his wife got proper nutrition and care.

Months passed by and finally, they welcomed their beautiful baby boy in their lives. The couple had never felt so ecstatic. Their baby was like a living miracle for them. They could hardly take their eyes off him and would spend hours in the hospital watching him sleep and snuggle in their arms. However, two days later, Bhavna noticed that her baby was being uncomfortable and his skin looked pale. He was immediately taken for diagnosis.

After a few hours, when the doctors came in, they informed that the baby’s liver was weak. Bhavna and Baleshwar were terrified after hearing this, but the doctor calmed them down and told that there was nothing serious. After prescribing a few medicines, he said that they could take their baby home and suggested to get him checked after a few months.

As the couple took their baby boy home, their small house in Rajasthan bloomed with love and warmth. Every minute revolved around looking after their angel. However, as months passed, Bhavna noticed that her baby was constantly in discomfort and kept crying. He couldn’t even digest food and would throw up everything. Their family doctor recommended taking their baby to Delhi.

The parents packed their bags and immediately left for Delhi. As they reached the hospital, the doctors ran a few tests. Bhavna wept as she saw her little one undergoing those painful tests. Finally, after hours, the doctors came in with the results. Their baby was diagnosed with chronic liver disease and needed a liver transplant to survive.

Bhavna cried inconsolably. She had never imagined that her little baby’s life would be in danger. “Please save my baby. I can’t live without him,” she begged to the doctors.

Baleshwar somehow kept his hope intact and calmed Bhavna down. He soon finished the formalities to start his baby’s treatment and put together his little savings to get the medicines. Luckily, after a few preliminary tests, he was identified as the perfect match as a liver donor. However, his hopes shattered when he was informed that his baby’s transplant will cost Rs 18 lakh ($ 25,815).

Baleshwar was devastated on hearing this. With hopes of getting money, he went back to his village. He borrowed money from his family and friends, but that was too less than the required sum.

When he couldn’t see any solution, he mortgaged his house. His hands trembled as he broke the jars in which he had collected money for his baby. He had never imagined that he was saving up for such dark times.

Despite all the sacrifices, Baleshwar was not even close to arranging the required funds for his baby’s transplant. The amount he had was draining in buying medicines and paying for hospital expenses. They stayed in the hospital premises to eliminate the living expenses and even starved themselves, but nothing they did was enough.

With passing days, their baby’s condition has started worsening. The medicines have stopped working. His stomach has bloated and he wails in pain. He throws up everything that he is fed. Bhavna and Baleshwar shed tears of helplessness as they see their little baby’s sufferings.

“My baby is going through so much pain and it kills me that I can’t even do anything as a mother. Nothing I do can heal his pain,” Bhavna cries.

The doctors have told that baby Yash has only one chance of survival and that is an urgent liver transplant. His parents are losing hope to save their child with every passing day owing to lack of money. No amount of hard work and sacrifice can fund his surgery. “I am left with absolutely nothing now. I have spent all the money I had, lost my house and am even losing faith. I can’t afford to lose my baby,” Baleshwar says.

What can you do?

Bhavna and Baleshwar’s financial crisis is becoming the reason for their baby’s unfair fate. 9-month-old baby Yash has been suffering since birth in pain and the parents have fought tooth and nail to try to save their baby. However, now they are just in a helpless state. Your kind contributions can instil faith in the couple and can save the little baby’s life.

This case is also supported by THE PRAVIN AGARWAL FOUNDATION under the Affordable Liver Transplantations Initiative, any gap in funding will be fulfilled by TPAF.
