IC3 Institute: Co-build a Career Counseling Department in Every School

Students without career counseling are like an aircraft without a navigation system; several accidents can happen when a navigation system is missing. We at the IC3 Institute are working towards building an ecosystem within schools to provide students access to career and college counseling for making best-fit career choices. 

The funds that we receive will help us train career and college counselors in schools who can transform the lives and futures of students.

Can we transform our friendly neighborhood high school teachers into Career Advisors?

There is a lack of timely and adequate guidance for students in high school about career paths and higher education options. At IC3 Institute, we turn your trusted high school teachers into career counselors free of cost. We train them to become mentors who help students achieve their creative and ambitious career goals. For example, imagine if your music teacher had the knowledge and capability to help you pitch the financial growth opportunities in being a musician to your parents. In our experience, similar conversations with parents became easier when they were adequately informed. This conversation, with the right help, at the right time, holds the power to change the course of a life and possibly history. 

Our Approach

The IC3 Institute is on a global mission to empower high schools to set up fully functional counseling departments for their students. The IC3 Institute aims to enable high schools to help their students make best-fit higher education and career decisions. Responsible counseling is about helping students find answers to three important questions:

1. What to study?
2. Where to study?
3. How to make this happen?

Counseling should not only manage the process of applying but more importantly provide guidance for students in making these important decisions. The IC3 Institute advocates for counseling to begin directly from class 8 or 9, with a complete curriculum for counseling in each grade throughout high school. The IC3 Institute also advocates adoption of a more personalized approach instead of a mass approach, by having one dedicated career and college counselor for every 120 students.

• Investing in content development to ensure regular program revision so that participants can access the most updated tools and best practices across the world.

We are now raising funds to fulfill an ambitious goal to train 100,000 counselors and impact 176,000 schools within 15 years, especially the most under-served and under-resourced schools.
