Fundraiser Ended! This fundraiser ended on July 31, 2020
Jumbo Circus, a branch of the iconic Gemini circus which was started in 1951, is now in absolute limbo due to the pandemic.
The circus group, originally from Thalassery, Kerala, has travelled across the country including villages for decades with animals, trapeze artistes, acrobats and clowns by exhibiting and educating people.
The pandemic has made things worse for this traditional entertainment industry which was already on the decline.
Jumbo Circus is presently stranded in Kerala (Unit 1- Kottakal and Unit 2- Kayamkulam) with 300 staff members - artistes, clowns, costume designers, trainers, as well as an army of unskilled labourers whose families include children who are solely dependent on the Circus for their livelihood. We also have around 40 animals which include camels, horses, dogs, macaws and cockatoos.
In the condition of zero revenue for months ahead, it is incredibly difficult to feed & sustain the lives of people involved in the circus industry.
It is extremely uncertain as to when the shows can restart due to pandemic, we want to appeal to all circus lovers to support us in this critical time. Please help us support the families of these artistes, revive and save this traditional art form. We humbly request you to offer financial support to help the families of these artistes and preserve this art form, otherwise, they may shutdown
They made us smile during our childhood days, now it’s your time to make them smile. Please donate generously.
