About the Fundraiser
Dear Friends,

My name is Medha Rao and I am running this crowdfunding campaign for the NGO, Habitat for Humanity India. Habitat for Humanity is providing family essential kits(food ration and basic supplies) and hygiene kits to thousands affected by Covid-19. As of 10th November 2020, Habitat India has served 11 Lakh Individuals and has distributed 4.1 Lakh kits.

I would request you to support me in helping the underprivileged and needy.

About the campaign:

FKS was founded in 1997, in Hyderabad by Shailaja Rao, with 20 students on a 4,000sft rented space with one teacher and five support staff. The school grew to 560 students, 65 teachers and 55 support staff in 2005, and today stands proud with over one thousand students on a three-acre facility comprising four buildings, a kitchen, and 16 school buses.

The FKS philosophy of “child first” has stood us through some tough times, a simple fact that many educational institutions profess to follow, but few succeed. The Principal and the Board of Directors firmly believe that the success of the outgoing students and the satisfaction of the parents will further strengthen the FKS motto of “child-centric” education. Every step that Shailaja Rao and her Board take in ensuring that FKS students and their needs come first, result in each student feeling that he or she is the recipient of individual attention.

About the initiative:

The pandemic has engulfed the entire world. Rapid spread and lack of vaccines has made it difficult to curtail the disease.  As Unlock 6 begins, the total number of confirmed Coronavirus cases in India is over 89 lakhs according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health. Our heart goes out to the millions of families in the country who still lack the essential items required for survival amidst the national lockdown.

Habitat for Humanity India is supporting families and individuals living in vulnerable conditions with no safety net by providing them with essential goods and hygiene items.  Habitat’s Hygiene Kits and Family Essentials Kits provide families with essential goods which meet their basic needs. Currently, Habitat India has served 11,44,490 individuals with a total of 4,07,410 Kits distributed to the people who are battling the phase of lockdown across the country.

However, the need is immense. There are daily wage labourers, slum dwellers, people living in slums and other distressed communities who need your help.  Many of them are starving. Even though the Government is taking commendable measures to reach out to the vulnerable families, the need is immense.

What Habitat For Humanity is doing to help?

Habitat for Humanity India has stepped in to sensitise and raise awareness on the importance of hygiene and sanitation through our WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) program.

As the country implements unprecedented measures amidst the global health emergency, they are supporting families and individuals by providing them with family essential kits and hygiene kits.

To practice caution, Habitat for Humanity India is not deploying their staff on ground but is working in partnership with state governments, local government administrations or government agencies.

Our collective action can save lives!

Habitat India will join hands with local District/Block/Village level authorities to spread awareness. Habitat will leverage on its local office and implementation partners who in turn will engage with the health network of the local authorities to coordinate with CBOs, SHGs and local organisations to identify community workers.

Keeping in view the guidelines released by the Central Government and State Governments, we will not be organising any mass gatherings. As much as they wish to be on the ground to help, the best thing to do now is to follow the guidelines laid down by authorities and support them through all possible means.

Work done and the families supported:

They have provided family and hygiene kits in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Delhi. With your support, they can expand their relief kits to all the needy families.

Please donate generously and share this campaign with your family and friends to raise maximum funds.

Donations made to Habitat for Humanity India are eligible for Tax Exemption under Section 80G. Habitat for Humanity India has been awarded with 1A – the highest rating by CRISIL.
