Welcome to my crowdfunding campaign to support Habitat for Humanity India in their vision of building a world where everyone has a decent place to live. In India since 1983, Habitat for Humanity has supported more than 38 million people through housing, WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) and disaster response. As a student passionate about social change, I firmly believe that decent shelter is the fundamental need of every human being. By building homes we can create a lasting impact and provide families living in vulnerable housing conditions the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build a better future.

My Mission: According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), improved housing conditions can save lives, prevent diseases, increase quality of life, reduce poverty, help mitigate climate change and contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). I am dedicated to make a difference by addressing the housing challenges faced by low-income families in India. Through this project, my mission is to mobilise resources to support Habitat for Humanity India’s mission of building homes, communities and hope.

Challenges: An estimated 1.6 billion people globally already live without adequate shelter. In India, more than 78 million people live in poor housing conditions. Families without decent housing are exposed to greater personal and environmental risks, are less nourished and have less access to health care.

Solution: A decent home opens the door to improved health, better performance in school, greater economic opportunities and increased community cohesion. Habitat for Humanity India has been a catalyst for such transformations.

Our approach: Habitat works with people whose housing conditions are inadequate due to systemic exclusion and vulnerability. To maximize intended impact, Habitat puts people at the centre of its work and uses an integrated approach, working across all spheres of the housing ecosystem: community, sector and societal.

Solar Energy: in addition to building homes, we also install solar panels on houses to harness the abundant sunlight and generate clean, renewable energy. This not only reduces electricity bills but also ensures a reliable and sustainable power source for the families.

Behaviour Change Communication: We conduct awareness programs for the community on several topics ranging from hygiene habits to sustainability.
