What is this about?

If you've seen my latest Music video - Spring Equinox(link above) and see value in my work, this fundraiser is an invitation to contribute and participate in the makings of an album, the work for which is already in progress.

If you participate you will be entitled to customized rewards and I will be with through each step of this journey, sharing updates, getting in touch with you, showing you the process, sending you written content in line with the album's theme.

Under this project umbrella I ll be working with few of the best musicians in Mumbai to interpret and record my music; they are veteran professionals who are frequent names in the music industry.

What makes this unique?

i) The Music

My musical language, like any sapling grew on a soil that housed diverse elements and genres. The soil made me.

From composing scores for films and commercials to arranging and producing songs, to performing as a drummer with bands/ensembles; each of which adds layers to my work.

This mix of influences is building me up as a composer at the edges/boundaries of a mainstream music industry, my niche space from which I seek to operate,in order to build the best art possible from my standard. A brief glimpse of which can be seen in Spring Equinox.

ii) The format

The coming album is driven by a narrative, a story and a character. Everything revolves around that. Because narratives is how we people perceive and think, we’re brought up with bedtime stories and we hunt for heroes at cinema halls. We need them as much as food - maybe even more. This format will link my music with something solid in this way.

How would that happen?

As a writer, I would be releasing the music along with a high volume of written content from stories to poems to conversation - all around the central narrative of the album - in a way that an you can relate intimately to the entirety of the package, from the stories to the music, and see value in it. 

Why am I doing this?

I’ve worked towards one goal that I’ve always waited for, just one.

That is to write independent music, with the best artists and infrastructure possible, without the pressures of a commercial hammer waiting for deadlines and dependencies. I believe the best work comes from an independent space crafted around the creator, rather than fitting into external models.

But more so, this project is a strong need to write music aligned with strong narratives - not advertisements, not entertainment, but meaningful stories that can pull people.

How will the funds contributed be used?

• Studio rent: Recording music with good infrastructure comes with a cost
• Paying the Musicians: Good artists charge what they're worth.
• Mixing and mastering charges: And recorded music needs to be mixed and mastered by qualified engineers to be make the final product worth listening to. This is a key stage of the process 
• Graphic artwork: I ll be working with a professional graphic artist to add life and colors to the album cover and other related artworks.
