Fundraiser Ended! This fundraiser ended on April 11, 2022
Pilani as a city is known for Birla Institute of Technology and sciences (BITS). The presence of this renowned organisation has generated a lot of interest amongst the local children and adolescents, who want to take admission in BITS for pursuing their higher studies. However, most of the children study in public schools, where these students do not get the environment to explore new things and put their creativity to use while learning and growing. They are hardly able to pursue their dreams. The onset of Covid-19 pandemic has only worsened the situation and added on to the inequities prevalent in the education of school children.
A UNICEF report shows that 80 per cent of the children aged 14 to 18 years reported lower levels of learning than physical schooling at the school campus during one and a half year of school closures. The prolonged school closure due to COVID-19 has caused many children to miss out on learning, social interaction and playtime which are essential for their overall development and well-being. Not only this, the students have lost interest in education as more than two-third of the rural children had no access to devices.
Another report, the annual status on Education Report (ASER) 2021 shows that more and more children are leaving private schools for taking admissions in government schools because of reduction in family income. In view of this, it becomes increasingly important to create an environment in government schools to arouse their curiosity, generate their interest in education, especially complex subjects like science through innovative learning techniques.
BITSAA Alumni Trust has come up with a unique solution called Prayogshala on wheels. The project shall be run on a van fully equipped with equipment, a library, a LED TV and an instructor. The van shall bring science lab at the doorstep of rural children, who seldom get an access to science lab in their schools.
Prayogshala offers a unique and innovative solution to spark the curiosity of students while creating a fun-filled environment, where the students are given enough freedom to explore, experiment and innovate.
We need people like you, who can make this dream of Prayogshala on wheels true. The money donated by you shall be eligible for deduction under section 80G of the Income tax Act. The money will be used to meet the operational cost of the project.
