Promoting Eco Responsible Trekking at Everest Base

Greetings,

Due to this pandemic that stalled our livelihood for these testing good half of the year 2020, I beleive the Toursim industry has succumbed a major hit.

Hello. I am Vignesh, a nature lover, self made mountaineer from the southern part of our country. My passion for outdoors had led me to be an outdoor trek leader in the Himalayas. I have done 16+ high altitude treks over 50 times in a span of 16 months.

I have a Basic Mountaineering Course certificate, Wilderness First Responder course certificate from the Outdoor Leadership School of NOLs. With much bigger dreams, I was stepping into the true part of the majestic Himalayan region, Nepal.

2019, I had made myself an itinerary for a 26day Delhi to Delhi round trip solo (unguided) trek of the Everest Base Camp (EBC). This itinerary covered three 5000m+ passes of that region as well as 3 other base camps (Ama Dablam, Cho Oyu and Annapurna) alongwith the ultimate, EBC. Most of my savings for the entire year were sidelined for this plan. However due to this pandemic, I have lost my job and these last 5 months I was forced to spend up my savings of my dream plan.

What was I trying with this plan?

I have seen many of my colleagues and friends spend a huge amount of money for gears, equipment, and travel. Using my experience in the mountains, I had challenged myself that I would cover the entire trip in a Eco Friendly way and at the cheapest expense possible. I also wanted to create an awareness about the concept of Green trails, a mission about leaving no carbon footprint on the fragile ecosystem of Himalayas.

When?

I'm planning to do this awareness trek on March 30th 2021, the same date that I had planned for earlier. With this, before the Toursim industry rewamps, I would like to creat a blog that raises awareness among people about the responsible manner of trekkking.

For this, I need 50000 ruppes which would cover my entire expenses from Chennai to Chennai, government entry fee, gear, equipments, travel, food and lodging.
