BROAD OBJECTIVES OF PROJECT:
 
The prime objective of this project is to design a go-kart based on the parameters set by FMSCI (Federation Of Motor Sports Club Of India) which is an organization recognized by government of India. We also aim at the promotion of motor sports in Kerala by exhibiting our venture and by conducting awareness campaigns so that budding engineers like us are aware of the opportunities in this field.
 
     ABSTRACT:
The project aims to design a go-kart vehicle based on the rules and regulations which are imposed by Go-Kart Design Challenge (GKDC) organized by FMSCI (Recognized by government of India). Theoretical calculations have been carried out that have been realized through several analyses. By the use of these calculations the chassis model has been developed that provides improved performance and safety.  The team has been divided in to mainly 4 departments for the manufacturing of Go-Kart such as Design, Steering, Drivetrain and Brake. We aim at manufacturing simple vehicle components without outsourcing, using easily available parts to maintain ease of servicing and maximum weight and cost reduction without sacrificing overall chassis strength.  
 
METHODOLOGY AND EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN:
Chassis plays a vital role as it bears the weight of the engine, brake system, fuel system and steering system. The chassis should have to provide much strength in order to protect the driver from impacts. The chassis must have the capacity to resist all the lateral and longitudinal forces exerted on the vehicle. The chassis was designed using SOLID WORKS and the validation of the chassis and the other parts was done using ANSYS 15. Theoretical calculations along with proper research is done so best possible outcome can be obtained. Along with theoretical calculations the new chassis was developed keeping in mind safety as well as ergonomics.
 
 
 
 
 
APPLICATIONS/SOCIOECONOMIC IMPORTANCE:
With around 150 engineering colleges Kerala produces thousands of bright, capable and passionate engineers each year. Despite these facts the participation of Keralites in motor sports and amateur vehicle designing and building is minimal. With our project we aim to demonstrate that passionate engineering students like us can participate in national level events and have opportunities and exposure which have been alien to a vast number of us. We hope to serve as an inspiration for similar events to come for engineering students like us.
