About the Fundraiser

Dear Friends,

I, Rashika kohli am running this crowdfunding campaign to provide shelter to the families of the army martyrs’. I am supporting the globally reputed NGO, Habitat For Humanity. Habitat for Humanity is building homes for the families of the army men who have lost their lives to protect our nation. As a responsible citizen of the country, I feel that it is our duty to help them & their families. Donate to my campaign to help support a family by providing them with a safe and secure home.

About the campaign:

Team BullsEye is heading a crowdfunding campaign called ‘Housing for Heroes’ in association with The Alpha Urbane Project and Habitat for Humanity.

Having exceeded at the Wharton Global Investment Competition, Team BullsEye aims at undertaking social work for two prominent causes - supporting the families of Army martyrs and raising menstrual awareness. With the help of student volunteers, they intend to make a change in society.

Join Team BullsEye in supporting their cause by donating today!

About the initiative:

Martyred Shankar Shinde, age 34 years was a part of the Maratha Light Infantry. He laid down his life during crossfire, while killing five terrorists and protecting his infantry, in the Kupwara Operation (Jammu and Kashmir) on 13th February 2016.

His heartbroken parents, Suman and Chandrabhan, continued to struggle in Bhayale village, Nashik, living with no means to repair their dilapidated home, now that their only son is gone.
Shankar’s parents’ only source of income is from farming the small land they own. They were not in the situation to rebuild their home.

We are aging and life was getting difficult in our old worn out house. Our house was in ruins. There was no proper ventilation and the house lacked basic amenities, like even a proper toilet. With our son gone, we were finding it hard to cope in life. We did not have the means to build a home” - Suman Shinde

Habitat for Humanity India helped this family build a home that provides a safe and secure shelter where they can live out the rest of their lives. On Independence Day 2018, the flag was hoisted outside the Shinde home in Nashik, and the statue of Shankar garlanded.

“In this situation, Habitat India wiped our tears and built a new home for us. We will be indebted to these angels of humanity. Thanks to Habitat for Humanity India, we will get to spend the rest of our lives in comfort and peace. During the pandemic, this home can also protect us from the virus." - Suman Shinde.

Like this family, Habitat for Humanity has helped build 62,998 homes across India. Our work with the district authorities and grass-root level partners has helped us identify many such families all over India who are in need of a decent home where they can live for the rest of their lives.

What Habitat For Humanity is doing to help?

The Habitat for Heroes project is our homage to the martyred soldiers. We are committed to provide sustainable housing solutions to their families. This initiative seeks to engage citizens of the country to help the families of fallen soldiers in their need for decent shelter, with the belief that we must serve those who have served us.

A Habitat home is built around a family’s needs using locally sourced high quality materials, and sound construction methods. The quality of construction has to meet the government’s building codes and our own quality standards. These homes are spacious, well designed and durable. They are usually constructed close to sanitation units to provide easy access at all times of the day and night.

Indian Army Soldiers are guarding the nation’s borders to protect & preserve our country and its citizens. Our lives are indebted to our army soldiers, our nation’s heroes who fight in inhospitable terrains to protect our country. Now it is our chance to help them & their families by supporting their livelihood. Every rupee you donate will help us build strength, stability and self-reliance for the families of India’s heroes.

We must serve those who have served us.

Donations made to Habitat for Humanity India are eligible for Tax Exemption under Section 80G. Habitat for Humanity India has been awarded with 1A – the highest rating by CRISIL.
