About the Fundraiser

“I still remember the morning Hari left for work four years ago. He smiled as he said goodbye, and said he’d return home soon.

The following evening, I got a call from the hospital, ‘Your son Hari met with an accident, please come down to the hospital immediately.’

"I saw my son’s eyes open two months later, as he got out of a coma.”

“I’m afraid the accident has caused severe damage to his brain. We see improvement since he woke up from the coma, but he is suffering from paralysis. We don’t know when he will be able to walk again”, the doctors said.

It has been four years since I last saw Hari smile. Unable to talk, there are times he struggles to recognize me or my husband.

My son was a karate champion- he picked up a part-time job only to support his poor parents. But he has been confined to bed since 2018, and it’s unbearable to see my child in this condition as a mother.

I remember him saying that he wanted to pursue his MBA. Knowing that he’ll be the first in our family to not only pursue graduation but also post-graduation, my chest filled with pride.

My husband, Pentaiah, has worked as a security guard all his life and continues to do so to be able to afford Hari’s medicines. I was a housemaid but I quit everything to be able to take care of my son.

When we heard that there was a way to put an end to my son’s miseries, we thanked our blessings.

“This surgery will involve placing an Intrathecal Baclofen Pump in Hari’s spine that will allow him to move and walk. It will cost approximately Rs 11,20,000 ($ 14046.27), the doctors advised us.

With a monthly income barely enough to feed us, the hospital expenses over the past 4 years have completely drained us dry.

We’ve had to take on loans just to be able to keep Hari admitted. Now neck-deep in debt, we have no way of affording the final surgery.

Hari used to spend entire days training and working hard. He used to say “Amma, don’t worry about anything. Once I win this tournament, I’ll take care of all of us.”

Now, all of that seems like a pipe dream. I just want my son back, I wish to take him home!

Please help Hari get back to his feet; he has spent close to 4 years of his life on the bed!
