Fundraiser Ended! This fundraiser ended on March 3, 2023
I’ve always loved being around children. Their pure emotions and unconditional love never fail to bring a smile to my face.
When I married Shivanand, I couldn’t wait to have my own children. Unfortunately, my journey was not so simple.
We waited for 5 years before having a baby.
Both of us wanted to be able to provide for our children, the best that life has to offer. Unfortunately for us, we came from poor backgrounds so we had to work non-stop for years in order to save enough money.
After 5 years of working tirelessly, we had collected enough to cover the medical costs incurred during pregnancy and the basic needs of the baby.
Little did we know, this wouldn’t even be a fraction of the amount we now need for our child.
“The day Mithun was born was the happiest day of my life. I had been waiting for this moment for so long, and couldn’t wait to hold my son in my arms and watch him go through life.”
Up until his first birthday, everything was going well. We were a perfect, happy little family.
But then I noticed that my son had a swollen spot on the lower part of his body.
Not knowing what it could be, I waited a couple of days to see if the swelling would reduce.
Since the lockdown began, my husband has lost his job. For a whole year, he’s been desperately seeking jobs to be able to provide for us but he has had no luck.
Our savings were quickly running out, so I left my little Mithun home with Shivanand and went out to work as well. My salary is hardly enough to cover our daily needs, let alone cover a visit to the hospital.
As I realised Mithun’s swelling was not getting better, I knew I had to take him to the doctor.
At the hospital, he was diagnosed with cancer.
My entire world came crumbling down when I heard the news. I couldn’t believe that my baby, barely a year old, was already facing death.
We immediately took out all our savings and sold off all our valuables to be able to afford his treatment.
“Mithun has already undergone surgery in January of 2021. But the doctors say this will not be enough. He needs another surgery as well as chemotherapy to be able to beat his cancer.”
The total cost of his treatment will be Rs 8 lakh ($ 10659.72).
Even after borrowing from all our friends and family, we haven’t been able to come up with the required amount.
Now there is nothing more we can do but watch helplessly as our only baby fights for his life.
Your donations are the only chance he has to survive. Please, don’t let cancer snatch away my baby so soon. Help us, donate.
