My youngest son is fighting cancer at just 3 years old. He needs your help

When Shiv was born, I couldn’t have been happier. He was the perfect addition to our family, and my husband and I were so excited to watch our boy grow up. 

I promised to always protect him no matter what, but today I feel like a failure as he lays in hospital fighting for his life.

Our troubles started in March of 2021. 

Shiv wasn’t as talkative as usual. Normally, the sound of his laughter is constantly echoing in our house. 

I checked his temperature and realised he had a mild fever. I took him to bed and made sure he rested straight away. 

A couple of days passed, and Shiv was still complaining of tiredness. His temperature was steadily increasing now and I spent night after night nursing him with a wet cloth.

“A whole week passed and his condition didn’t improve. I was hesitant to take him to the doctor– my husband, Abhijeet, repairs shoes for a living. His earnings are just enough to take care of our daily needs.”

But as soon as I noticed that Shiv’s skin was turning a pale yellow, I rushed to the local doctor. 

The doctor asked us to take him to the hospital as soon as possible. I knew something was wrong, but I never could have imagined that his life would be threatened at just 3 years old.

At the hospital, he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia– a deadly form of blood cancer. 

The doctors started his chemotherapy as soon as he was diagnosed. Abhijeet and I spent all our savings and begged our relatives to help us pay for his treatment. 

So far, we’ve given up everything we have to put our son through his first 3 cycles of chemotherapy. 

Unfortunately, this is not enough. We still need Rs 6 lakh ($ 8125.61) to save his life.

“Shiv is terrified of the hospital and his tiny arms are sore from being pricked by needles constantly. I wish I could do more to save my child, but my hands are tied. There is nothing more I can do but watch helplessly as my boy slips away from me.”
