About the Fundraiser

My name is Simran Gulati, I am the Campaign Manager with FFAR India (SaveTheLeopard Campaign)

The brief description of what we do at FFAR India....

We at FFAR India files high-impact lawsuits to protect animals from harm provides free legal assistance and training to prosecutors in their fight against animal cruelty, supports animal protection legislation, and provides resources and opportunities to law students and professionals to advance the field of animal law.

Why is it Important to save the Leopards in the wild:

leopards are top predators in their landscape, so they have a crucial role in keeping the right balance of species in their area. That also affects the health of the forests and the wider environment, which provides local wildlife and people with food, water and other resources.

Can you guess how many Leopards are remaining in the wild in India? C'mon try?

What's your number? 45000!?

Or is it 20,000!? Or 12000?

Here is some news for you then my friends, yes back in 90's the leopard population indeed stood at 45000 plus it is guestimated.

Today the total population of Leopards in India is less than 6500 odd. Yes, you read it right. 6500 Leopards are all that remain now in the wild in India.

We lost 530 odd of them in 2016 followed by another 550 odd in 2017 and in January and February alone of 2018 we have lost over 100 Leopards.

If we take them for granted just for another couple of years more- the Leopard would become extinct

Most our Leopards we are loosing owing to Man Leopard conflict leading to mob justice killing these Leopards and the lack of effective implementation of Comprehensive Guidelines of 2011 to manage Leopard and Man conflict.

FFAR India is of the opinion and so are the wildlife experts backing us and those we have consulted in our 8 months odd research that if these Guidelines of 2011 were just better and to the tee followed, we could indeed put a stop to the falling numbers of this beautiful predator.

FFAR India is in the Supreme Court to fight for the Indian Leopard seeking better and effective implementation of the Guidelines of 2011 among other suggestions. The Petition comes up in Supreme Court of India on 24th August 2018.

How will your donations help us?

With the help of your donations, we will be able to further our research on how to save the leopards in the wild and part of which will be used for the litigation charges for the cases filed in the supreme court of India and part towards training law students (young minds) and prosecutors in their fight against animal cruelty and professionals who want to advance in the area of animal law so the fight against animal cruelty in continues in the future.

We seek your blessings and support. contribute and donate.

Kindly help us out and contribute to save the Leopards campaign and fight for their survival in the wild.

Thanks & Regards
