About the Fundraiser

Hi everyone!!

I am a contestant in Mrs. India Galaxy Pageant and I am raising funds to help underprivileged women by providing the necessary skills to become self-dependent and live a life of dignity.

As we all know, India has one of the lowest female participation rates in the workforce among the developing countries. The number of working women in India has been continuously declining. At 21%, India has one of the worst labour force participation rates (LFPR) by women. Conservative/orthodox beliefs, as well as Violence Against Women, are often held as the main reasons why very few women seek employment.

High adolescent fertility and infant mortality result from selling young daughters into marriage. Widows who have been left with nothing constitute the largest segment of the extreme poor. Food insecurity and world hunger are both worsened because women can’t own land. Where women have no autonomy, the costs in death, property destruction, disease, and trauma are incalculable. Children go hungry, sick, and uneducated because their mothers have no economic power.

Women’s economic empowerment has been shown, many times, to be the best available weapon against poverty. Economically autonomous women can walk away from abuse. Providing young women with the means to earn shields them from human trafficking. Gender equality reduces violence of all kinds. Increase of women into the work force who otherwise would have to stay home leads to a rise in GDP and helps boost economy of the country. Vocational training in both rural and urban areas have a higher possibility of workforce participation.

Today, as a vigilant citizen of India, I pledge to raise funds and try my best to help Our Social Works to impart their various Women Empowerment Programs to maximum beneficiaries across India.

I hereby request all, to join in my initiative and donate generously. Please do help me spread my word on social media like Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp and various other platforms.

Thank you!

About Our Social Works?

Our Social Works (OSW) is a non-profit organization operating all over India since 2010. It is spearheaded by a team of driven, dynamic, and experienced individuals, who are sincerely dedicated to the needs, skill development and empowerment of underprivileged women and children.

The NGO is duly registered under section 12A of the Income Tax Act.

What Do We do?

Under the Women Empowerment Program, we organize skill development workshops for underprivileged women to help them learn essential skill sets to be able to generate livelihood for themselves. These women are mostly poor and victims of domestic violence and lack necessary skills and resources to buy any raw material to produce anything or sales experience to sell the produce to earn a living. These women are mostly not highly educated and are not allowed to work in offices or markets by their families. The families are conservative and expect the women to take care of domestic chores and responsibility of children single-handedly. Our Social Works imparts knowledge through workshops for these women and provides raw material to prepare products and organizes exhibitions or gets bulk orders for these products. Each workshop is conducted in batch sizes of 20 -50 for 2 to 3 months. After the completion of the workshop, follow up and support is provided to help them become independent. Exhibitions are organised to help sell the products produced by these women.

Regular health checkups are conducted to help provide diagnosis and medication for any ailments. Health insurance is also provided to these women and her family members to help protect against any emergency health crisis where they would not be able to afford medical treatment later. Our Social works aims to help these women become independent and live a life of dignity.

What is Our Social Works Women Empowerment Program?

Our Social Works Women Empowerment Program aims to support economically less privileged women from rural areas and urban slums as well as revive traditional art and handicrafts by training and encouraging upcoming artisans through our Skill Development Programs. At OSW Women Empowerment Program (OWEP)

- Skill development workshops are conducted on various skills like hand embroidery, painting methods like Madhubani, stitching, jewellery making, bags, candle making, Tray making, etc. These workshops helps them learn necessary skills to generate livelihood.

- Exhibitions and sales proceeds of products ensure a steady source of income for these underprivileged women. As these women become financially independent, they are able to nurture their families in a better way and live a life of dignity.
