A student film that needs your help.
About the Film:
Two Boys Sneak Out Of Their House At 3 In The Night To See A Meteor Shower is a queer, conversational, short film by Rudrangsh Gupta, about two boys interested in films and photography, who decide to sneak out of their house in the middle of the night to capture a meteor shower that occurs once in thirty-three years. What follows is a series of conversations about filmmaking, past traumas and discovering sexuality.
The film is set to shoot in the 4th week of November 2023, in Pune, over a period of 5 days.
We require 1,90,000 Rupees to make this film.
Out of this 1,90,000 Rupees, 90,000 Rupees goes towards Camera and Sound Equipment Rentals (this includes a power generator, since we have no power source, given that we are shooting on a hill), 18,000 towards Refreshments for around 17 people of the crew and cast, 18,000 Rupees towards Travel logistics, which includes transporting equipment and people, 20,000 Rupees towards Music Production and copyright usage is necessary, 10,000 towards Production Design for the film, 10,000 towards VFX (Visual Effects), 20,000 towards Film Festival Distribution, and 7000 towards paying our lead actors, some of whom are queer.
Why invest:
The story delves into some important subjects like identity and past traumas, which we think are points of relevance in the lives we live today. We bridge the gap between meaningful artistic pursuits and perspective partnerships. With an experienced crew, the movie is guaranteed outreach via film screenings and film festival submissions.
About the Crew:
Rudrangsh Gupta, Director (he/they): Rudrangsh is a 20-year-old independent filmmaker and student whose interest in cinema over the years stemmed from the intrigue of exploring the cinematic landscape and its possibilities. Rudrangsh has been part of multiple projects as a writer, director and assistant director. His first-ever short film has been reviewed by Vikrant Massey, which was part of a filmmaking competition in 2020.
Rudrangsh’s latest short film, ‘Maachis’ was shortlisted in the finals for India Film Project. He has also been a part of Delzad Hiwale’s debut feature project, ‘Hantu’ and worked on the scripting process of the film. Rudrangsh’s influences and approach towards filmmaking are derived from auteurs such as Satyajit Ray, Terrence Mallick, Edward Yang and Paul Thomas Anderson.
Manasvini Sekar, Production Head (she/her): Manasvini is a writer and film student who has loved cinema ever since she heard stories about her dad skipping college to go to the theatres. Something about the medium just feels like magic to her. Manasvini has been a part of multiple college projects in the capacity of line producer and production head. She also loves documentaries and worked on Atman Mehta's Travelling Light which is under production right now. Having worked with Production Designers like Mr. Rajeevan and Mr. Surya Rajeevan as well, she has an understanding of how departments work together to make a film.
Manasvini's love for filmmaking and storytelling stems from the films of Mani Ratnam, Damien Chazelle and Mike Mills, which she grew up watching.
Sheikh Zaid Bin Naseer, Cinematographer (they/them): Zaid is a cinematographer and filmmaker from Kashmir. Having worked on several short films, music videos and documentaries as the DOP, and a camera assistant in Mumbai's film city for big-budget projects, they have garnered the knowledge and skills to make for a DOP that truly translates the script visually in their own distinctive style.
They have worked with artists like Tajdar Junaid and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

This film is incredibly personal to all of us on the crew. We are a group of passionate young storytellers, and this is a story we really want to tell, in the hopes that our audience discovers pieces of themselves in the process, just like our characters did!
As aspiring creators, we hope you can play a part in making our dream project a reality.
