Imagine, witnessing the heart-wrenching scenes of intentional physical abuse towards stray dogs during your daily commute, your neighbor mistreating their pet cat, or even you being harassed for simply feeding and caring for the neighborhood's stray animals. These are just a few examples of the countless horrors that animals and their caretakers endure at the hands of our insensitive society. In the absence of a robust legal support system, pursuing justice for these innocent beings becomes a long and solitary battle, often resulting in even more significant crimes and a lack of compassion towards our fellow earthlings.
This is the stark reality that led to the birth of Society for Animal Safety (SAS India) in 2018.
SAS India is a non-profit litigation organization with an unwavering commitment to combat the escalating wave of animal cruelty in India. We do this by taking legal action against the perpetrators, ensuring justice is served to the animals, and working tirelessly to prevent similar future atrocities.
Our dedicated network of lawyers and volunteers spans across India, enabling us to swiftly respond to incidents of animal cruelty and related offenses. We coordinate with local law enforcement agencies, administrative bodies, and other NGOs to rescue victimized animals and secure the strictest possible action against those responsible.
At present, our team is actively engaged in Maharashtra, UP, MP, Delhi/NCR, Gujarat, and Karnataka.
On average, we field 40-45 calls each day regarding the harassment of animal feeders by community members or within residential societies. Over the past 1.5 years, we've addressed over 8,600 cases, successfully resolving 90% of them, while the remaining 10% are currently in various stages of legal proceedings. In minor cases, we issue notices and mediate resolutions within 7-10 days, but we spare no effort in filing FIRs and pursuing serious cases through the courts, even if it takes years. We stand unwaveringly by the side of those who report these injustices.
With your support, we aspire to turn India into a cruelty-free haven for animals by:

"I can vividly recall the sadness and shock in the eyes of two beautiful pups who had just witnessed their mother being killed by a careless car driver in the bustling IT area of Pune. When I reached out to existing animal welfare NGOs for help to secure the pups' future and file a case with the local police, I faced ridicule and found no support from other organizations. It was then that I realized I had a duty to protect animal rights and prevent animal cruelty."

Your generous contributions will empower us to champion the rights of animals and work towards creating a nation where both humans and animals are cherished equally.
As Anatole France famously said, "Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened."
Together, let's unite to make India a better place for all living beings!
