About The Project

Team Kshatriya, a team of 30 undergraduate young engineers started 12 years ago, exemplifying the youth spirit of taking risk and thrill to drive trodden path from Vellore Institute of Technology, Tamil Nadu. We aim to manufacture one of the lightest, fastest, high-performance endurable ATV all over India. We work hard in order to do something distinct and apart from their course curriculum — Something that would make us excel in industrial work and earn recognition on national and international stages. Since 2006, we never looked back and the rest is history.

Being BAJA SAE Student

We consider BAJA SAE the first step in trying to achieve perfection in industrial work and start working for it, spending days and sleepless nights. We leave no stone unturned in designing & fabricating the vehicle, making it a tough fight for our competition. With a well-organized team and the dedication of each team member towards BAJA, we step closer to achieving our goal of engineering excellence day by day.

How We Make It Happen

Building an ATV is not an overnight phenomenon, it requires hours of dedication and a strong determination. We stretch our days to 18 hours and countless nights in the workshop to bring our car to life. The theories we learn in college inspires us to apply them in building real race ATV Vehicle. We built our car from scratch – right from conceptualization, design, manufacturing and finally entering the testing phase which is one of the most crucial parts of our plan.

What Makes Our ATV Special

Competing for 400 similar teams of different top colleges and being top 10 for past 5 years is not simple, we are one of the first BAJA teams to support the make in India campaign. Most of the car race on simple track but amidst all these, what separates us from them, what makes us different from them even though in that competition, we build what they build, we test what they test and we run what they run?

We manufacture a vehicle which can walk on stairs, move skilfully on tough difficulties like wood, stones, wooden planks. Team Kshatriya manufactures its components such as the Gearbox, Rack and pinion, Seat etc. instead of purchasing them from other countries.

Journey So Far

Team Kshatriya was founded in 2006 by a faction of mechanical engineers of VIT University, who had a desire, a dream, and a deep vision within them. We started with the objective of bringing together those brains which are diligently working on a myriad of inventive technologies, and to provide them with a forum for free exchange of ideas and expose them to the latest innovations in terms of automotive engineering. We are proud to have participated in Baja SAE India 2007 – 2017, Baja South Africa 2009 and Baja USA 2007.

Why Crowdfunding?

Just being one of the oldest and consistent BAJA teams in India doesn’t satisfy our hunger. We have won accolades in various competitions in the past and we hope to increase our presence globally by designing and manufacturing the best ATV vehicle in the world but the hard fact is, being students, the financial crunch always obstructs our growth. Due to the lack of funds, we are unable to showcase our fullest potential at the national level competitions.

That’s where we need your help, ardently. With all your help, support, capitalization we shall purchase better parts, train better and realize our full capability. Let money, not be an issue in the realization of our dreams. Your financial support of any kind will be beyond our words and gratitude. What are the risks and challenges associated with our project? 

Funds have always been the biggest challenge for us as putting together resources and skill-sets are things under our full control. Due to lack of monetary support, we often fall short of achieving what we set out for and we have to cut through many tests, small malfunctions that emerge to be extremely dangerous at the live competition. The risk has always been at the testing phase of our vehicle.

Having faced this many times, we need those bucks to get ourselves rigorous drills and deep analysis sessions, so that we can strive for the podium position once again, never giving up.
