About the Fundraiser

By any standard, Ishamuddin Khan is a man of remarkable talents. Back in 1995, this traditional Indian magician or madari, completed the first successful outdoor performance of a trick that had been whispered about for centuries but that no one before had mastered. When, before an amazed audience on the southern edge of Delhi, Ishamuddin managed a convincing rendition of the legendary Indian rope trick, it made headlines around the world that ought to have secured his place in the history of magic and won him lasting recognition at home. Ishamudin is a revivalists of Traditional magic of India. He has performed around the globe.

He has brought back some of the lost secrets of Indian traditional magic.

Street magicians were already suffering before the pandemic - since urban spaces for this kind of performances in Delhi have been shrinking for quite some time. Ishamudin survived on birthday and office parties and an occasional stint with NGOs working with large communities.

With the pandemic, Ishamudin and his family have suffered terribly. A lockdown for them has meant total loss of livelihood in the past 3 months - since birthday parties and other events have been cancelled at random.

Ishamudin and his family have very little savings and that has been spent in looking after the family during the first phase. The income of the family has gone down to zero in the last month.

A small donation from you would help this family of great magicians survive the pandemic and built their lives again.
