The second wave of COVID has hit the country extremely hard. We are witnessing far more distressful and humanitarian crisis than this time. Everyone around is infected with the virus or having hard time accessing medicines, oxygen, hospitalisation and daily supplies. Those at the margins are the most affected.
With new restrictions in place, we have again started getting calls for ration especially from home based workers in Chembur, recycling workers in Mankhurd, daily wage workers in Malvani and from villages in interior parts of Maharashtra where certain sections of the villages have been completely contained.
We are targeting to provide ration and cooked meals to workers who are not getting benefits of government relief package as they’re not registered with the labour department and don’t possess ration card. In addition, we are looking at supplying basic medicine and sanitation kits and in worst cases oxygen cylinders and help with hospitalisation and other expenses.
Right now we’re catering to requests in mumbai, but as new restrictions are being placed. The distress calls from other organisation with whom we partnered in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and other states are also coming in.
After serving more than 1.5 million hot meals and dry ration for 1 lakh persons from March 2020 to November 2020 during national lockdown, we are facing fund crunch to cater to needs arising out of present situation due to lockdown and complete breakdown of the public health infrastructure.
We helped as many as couldn’t with everyone’s support last year and continue to engage in relief efforts, providing food, medicines, information and any other help as required.
With your support, we can reach our target, hence requesting you to please contribute whatever amount you can so that we can attend to maximum requests.
We have resumed our last year crowdfunding link through which we raise about Rs. 42 lakhs and spent in the relief work last year. Any amount above Rs. 42 lakhs will be spent for the ongoing relief work.
