“Here, give Sayantika the medicines and take care of her. I'll see you both tomorrow morning.” My husband said as he handed me a bag full of medicines and looked at our 12-year-old daughter who was sleeping.
Just as he was about to leave, I caught his hands and stopped him in his tracks.
“But where will you go? It's raining heavily outside and the bus stand isn't a good place to spend the night.
Please don't go, I'll request the nurse to let you sleep here tonight.” I pleaded to him with concerned eyes, knowing very well that for the last two weeks he wasn't sleeping in the hospital parking lot but rather on the bus stand.
At such times, I felt extremely guilty and bad for my husband, knowing that he was giving his all to save our daughter's life.
After bidding my husband good night, as I went into my daughter's isolation ward, I couldn't help but look back at everything with teary eyes.
Life wasn't always this miserable for us. Life did not always revolve around sleeping at bus stands and skipping meals every day just to save money.
But this doesn't mean things weren't tough. They were but none of it was as tough and unbearable as seeing my 12-year-old Sayantika lying on the hospital bed, fighting for her life.
None of the struggles we've faced can compare to my daughter's shrieks and cries for help. None of the struggles we've faced can compare to her fighting for her life. And none of the struggles we've faced can compare to her soon losing her life.
Suffering from end-stage renal disease, wherein the kidney stops functioning normally, my daughter's life is hanging on a thread and there's nothing my husband and I can do.
All we can do is hope and wait. Hope for God to show mercy on her and wait for a miracle to happen.
Since the day my Sayantika was diagnosed with her disease in 2018, my husband and I had promised ourselves that we'd protect her no matter what.
So from her expensive medications to monthly dialysis, we paid for everything by slowly selling off whatever we had.
But never once did my Sayantika's condition get any better. It only deteriorated with each passing day.
From frequent fever to extreme weakness, I saw her holding on to dear life almost every day.
Now the doctors have said that she needs an urgent kidney transplant to survive, but it would cost a massive INR 6,00,000.00.
Despite being a poor farmer, my husband tried to do numerous menial jobs every day to bring food to the table during the entire course of Sayantika's treatment. My husband has given it his all to save our daughter despite his helplessness.
But we don't know how we'll come up with this huge amount.
So far, I've come forward to be the donor for Sayantika's kidney transplant. But the doctors cannot take things any further without the said amount.
Now in these dark times, I turn to you for help. My daughter is all I have in this world and I don't want to lose her. Please donate for her and save her.
