However, Shantha’s condition was far from being normal…

“Since suggested measures were not of any help, we transferred her to Mangalore for further treatments,” said Asha.

Several tests were done after that, and finally, she was diagnosed with blood cancer.

“Your daughter’s condition is dire and she needs an immediate Bone Marrow Transplant. It will cost you around INR 15,00,000.00.” said the doctors.

Shantha’s father is the sole breadwinner in the family. As a daily wage earner, his income can only provide for so much.

“We’ve three daughters and all we ever wished for was to properly educate them and give them a happy life. But currently, the hospital expenses are too much for us to bear. We don’t have anyone to go to for help.” sobbed Asha.

Shantha’s family did e everything that they could afford the hospital bills. From selling gold to taking several high-interest loans and borrowing money, they did it all.

“I couldn’t even manage to get a stay near the hospital. I spend my days in the hospital premises itself,” said Asha.
