“When Rehan was born 15 years ago, I had never imagined I’d see him in a condition like this- confined to the hospital bed, suffering from cancer.
Once filled with energy, he now lies pale and weak on the hospital bed.”
My name is Sakerum Nissa, and my son, Rehan, is suffering from Adenocarcinoma of the rectum.
At a time when my son should be giving his 10th board exams, tears roll down his cheeks every day.
It all began a few months ago when his fever refused to subside despite all the home remedies I tried. My husband, Jamaluddin, would stay up all night, trying to comfort our son.
A few days had passed when Rehan noticed blood in his urine- we took him to the nearest clinic.
The doctors there confirmed that the symptoms suggest some kind of infection, and with the help of medicines, it will get cured.
Three weeks of medications later, Rehan showed no signs of improvement. I was beginning to worry if his condition was getting better or worse.
‘It was unbearable to see my child in pain. My elder son, Rahil, convinced us that we need to see the doctor again. We returned to the clinic in search of some kind of relief for Rehan and a blood test was conducted.’
Soon, the reports came back but the doctors were unable to pinpoint the root cause. Rehan’s uncle works in Bangalore, and he suggested that we must get him to the city’s best hospital for his diagnosis and treatment.
After multiple tests & scans, they diagnosed Rehan with rectal cancer or adenocarcinoma of the rectum.
‘The minute the doctors said cancer, tears rolled down Rehan’s cheeks. Rahil held Rehan as they silently sobbed while I asked the doctors for a solution.
They informed us that only cancer therapy costing INR 14,00,000.00 could save our son now.’
Rehan’s father is a mere agricultural worker, our monthly earning is Rs 5,000/-.
Starving ourselves so that our children were well-fed has become a habit, we’ve done everything we could to bring a smile to our children’s faces.
We’ve exhausted everything we had but it isn’t enough to afford even one session of therapy. We don’t know what to do anymore.
Your support is all we have to rely on. Please support us in saving our son’s life.
