“When Ritu turned 21 last year, we had nothing but pride to see our little girl finally step into the shoes of an adult,” Chanda spoke. “Acing her classes at college with big ambitions in her eyes, we knew no power in the world could stop my daughter from fulfilling her dreams.

But six months ago, she developed a severe limp and has been tied to bed ever since.”

Coming from a small district in Assam, Chanda’s eldest daughter Ritu is suffering from a fatal brain tumor.

Chanda is a mother to two daughters- 21-year-old Ritu and her younger sister Roshini. Her husband, Sanjiv, has been bedridden because of his injuries from an accident 10 years ago.

With no breadwinners in the family, they have been surviving with financial help from their relatives. Watching her parents struggle to feed their daughters, Ritu aspired to provide for her family as soon as she could.

However, she developed a limp while walking six months ago.

Ritu’s focus remained undeterred; she didn’t let the minor pain in her right leg stop her from living her life. Seeing her mother already stressed about her father & the family’s financial instability, she decided to hide it from her.

“I thought the pain would eventually subside and I’d be walking normally again. Instead, it worsened until the day when my mother noticed that I was struggling.

I wasn’t walking anymore, I was limping”, Ritu recollected.

The local doctor suggested the mother-daughter visit a multispecialty hospital in Chennai; without any further delay, they left for Chennai leaving Roshni and her father behind.

That’s when Ritu’s brain tumor was diagnosed.

We’re afraid your daughter has a brain tumor- Right Thalamic and Midbrain Lesion. If not treated at the earliest, it can be fatal. She will need a Craniotomy and Removal surgery to survive,” the doctors informed the pair.

Ritu had always dreamt of becoming an IAS officer. She studies day and night, and tries to find work to help support her family- but now, she has been forced to fight for her life.

Her life-saving surgery costs INR 6,00,000.00

With hospital bills stacking one after the other, Chanda has already borrowed Rs 3 Lakhs to pay them off. They have nothing left to pawn off and garner enough for Ritu’s life-saving surgery.

It has been six months since Ritu was last able to attend college- and she grows weaker by the day.

Ritu’s helpless mother, Chanda, is in dire need of your support.

The smallest of your contributions can help get Ritu the second chance she deserves- to fulfill her wishes and support her family.

Donate now and help her survive.
