“Tap tap tap, run faster! We have to win,” a narrow street in the small town in Nizamabad (a city in Telangana) echoed with excited laughter. Vishnu and his friends raced their cycle tires, occasionally tapping it with a wooden stick to move it ahead. It was a daily routine- after coming back from school, he’d throw his bag in a corner and run to his friend’s house.
However now, the 7-year-old is confined to the dull hospital room that reeks of medicines, fighting for his life. His life changed miserably back in May 2019 when he was hit by a deadly brain tumor.
“We had gone to a relative’s wedding. After we came back home, he started vomiting and complained of a headache. We thought he must’ve eaten something wrong. We could’ve never imagined our son was going through something so grave,” Sujatha cries.
When Sujatha and Narsaiah took Vishnu to the hospital, the doctor gave him a few medicines to stop the vomiting. But a couple of days later, the young one started getting seizures. Frantically, the parents rushed him to the hospital where the MRI scan revealed the tumor in his brain.
Sujatha and Narsaiah were devastated, to say the least. They hadn’t imagined this in their worst nightmares. But they somehow accepted reality and started their son’s treatment.
The next few months were an uphill battle for Vishnu. He underwent three grueling cycles of chemotherapy followed by brain surgery. However, despite the treatment, there was no significant improvement in his health and the size of the tumor remained the same.
“I don’t know why my child is being punished so much. It breaks my heart to see him in such a miserable state. He has lost all his hair and turned so weak. He struggles to even the smallest activities,” Sujatha cries.
They were soon told that Vishnu needs five more cycles of chemotherapy followed by an autologous stem cell transplant.
Narsaiah, who works as a laborer, took a few loans and started his son’s treatment immediately. However, he needs another INR 12,50,000.00 to keep Vishnu’s treatment going. He has already sold off the small piece of land he owned and is drowning in debt.
No one is ready to lend him another huge sum. The poor parents don’t have money to even put food on their plates. They just sit beside their son and shed tears of helplessness.
“I’ve used up everything I had to save our son. The guilt of not being able to provide for him eats me up. I can’t see him enduring so much pain. He is turning weaker and is losing strength to fight for his life. This is our last resort. Please help us save him,” Narsaiah pleads.
Vishnu’s brain tumor will consume his life if his treatment stops. Please donate generously and save this young child’s life.
