I am Ritika Amit Kumar (Formerly, Ritika Singh), a first generation entrepreneur. Having being brought up in a very disciplined environment, I realised as I entered the civilian world, that parenting was a big issue. A graduate in Mass Media and Mass Communication from Indraprastha College for Women, University of Delhi, and an MBA in Communication and Entrepreneurship from MICA (Mudra Institute of Communication, Ahmedabad), I felt communication was the key to raise the future citizens of the country. Before I decided to bootstrap, I gathered work experience by writing education shows for Topper TV (India’s first education/learning TV Channel), and subsequently managing Digital Marketing at Groupon India. I also ran a Digital Marketing Agency by the name of Creative Ink, to gather funds for the Kids Newspaper App, I am now working on. Starting with AchaBacha.co.in, a social network for parents, I grew into creating a newspaper for kids in the 6-12 age group. The Young Chronicle Newspaper App leverages the mobile platform to build awareness, sans the political and crime related news, in an easy to read manner, with interactivity, games and more. The newspaper app has 4 papers, one each for 6-7, 7-8, 8-9, 9-12 year olds. With each age-group the depth of news and language progresses. The important factor here is that the content is curated by Stay at Home Moms. These are typically mothers who have given up their jobs or have not been able to work outside home as they had a family to raise (I belong to this category myself). I find that over 70% Indian women leave the workforce after entering motherhood. While motherhood is initially challenging, it does leave the mother with a few hours to devote to ideas she is passionate about. Luckily, we have found resonance with this group and find the content created by this segment to be best suited for kids, as mothers have always sought creative methods to teach their children in their early years. My endeavour ultimately is, to create earning opportunities for Stay at Home Moms by building a platform that leverages their talent as a mother, to the fullest; in the mean time, ensuring the children get objective, interesting, and relevant information to read (in this super polarised world), using the mobile platform (that most parents dread, as they feel the phone is disconnecting their kids from the real world). Via this endeavour, we hope we can build better citizens for a brighter future. The Link to the app: Https://goo.gl/KPD6dk Linkedin Profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ritikas/
