New Delhi, INAbout Shailan Parker A versatile photographer, Shailan Parker has over 30 years experience in a broad spectrum of photography disciplines such as advertising, publishing, social communication, editorial, food and architecture. Trained in visual communication at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, Shailan brings to photography a keen understanding of design concepts, graphics and digital technology. He is a partner at PhotoDesign along with his wife, a Graphic Designer and has worked as a photography consultant for major magazines, publishing houses, corporates, NGOs and National Design & Fashion Institutes in India.Shailan Parker’s studio is located in New Delhi, and has worked on location all over India. Shailan’s corporate and institutional client list include ITC, Tupperware, KRBL, Nestle, Thapar, Mahindra & Mahindra, Godrej, Whirlpool, TVS, Jindal Steel, Modicare, NAFED, IGNCA, NIFT, NID, IILM, Oxfam, Tradecraft and more. His clients also include designers and artists like Satish Gujaral, Vibhor Sogani, Mukul Goyal, Ankur Choksi, Amardeep Behl, Himmat Shah, Minni & Mary Singh, PR Daroz, PS Ladi, Vineet Kakkar, Vineet Kumar and more. Shailan also runs Photosensitive where, along with his partner Joginder Singh, they conduct photography workshops, teaching Basic Photography, Advanced Photography and organise Photo Treks to the Himalayas where they cover Landscape and Macro Photography. Shailan has been teaching photography since 1988. He is a visiting faculty member at The National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), New Delhi at Accessory Design Department, The Pearl Academy, New Delhi and Indian Institute of Crafts and Design (IICD), Jaipur. ‘Kavadsa’ is Shailan’s debut show into the world of art photography this is an amalgamation of his personal expression and the experience that he has accumulated over the decades. It balances skill, technique and art; to merge the gap between artificial and natural, resulting in aesthetically beautiful, organic images. He uses his expertise to abstract art from nature. ‘Kavadsa’ is the first of the series of exhibitions, which would project photography as art, in the digital medium.
