  • How do I promote my fundraiser?

    1. Stage 1: Divide your social circle into an inner circle(friends, family, colleagues) and an outer circle(old friends, distant relatives, ex–colleagues, etc.).
    2. Stage 2: Reach out to your inner social circle first – friends, family and colleagues. They are most likely to give because, well, they love you, and because they can feel your passion for the cause.
    3. Stage 3: Reach out to your outer circle next – old friends, distant relatives, ex–colleagues, etc. When they see you've already got supporters giving to your fundraiser, it will make them want to join in as well.

Don't stop reaching out to the people in your network. Create a ripple effect.

  • I don't have a financially stable family, how do I ask for money from strangers. It’s awkward. Isn’t it?

No it's not unless you ask them for a large and an unrealistic amount. Remember, small donations from a large number of audience is your target.

Don't you fret. If not family, ask your friends for the bare minimum you require from each one of them to initiate donations on your fundraiser; to build the momentum, at least.

If your friends cannot donate too, ask them to share your fundraIsing page with their friends and family. The possibility of receiving funds from a complete pool of strangers are very low than receiving funds from your friends' friends/family members.

Keep asking them to keep sharing your fundraising page.

  • I have tried reaching out to my personal network, nothing seems to work out, what should I do?

    1. Ask for feedback from your friends and family. Get to know the reason why they are not contributing.
    2. Make changes: Restructure your fundraiser based on the feedback. Remember, transparency is the key. Do not forget to list down all the reasons for why you require funds.
    3. Reduce the goal amount, raise funds for the minimum requirement. Once you hit the goal amount, increase it again.
    4. Ask for support from your friends. Tell them to share your fundraising page on Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter and LinkedIn.
  • How will I know if someone donates?

An automated mail and an SMS from Ketto notifies you each time a donation is made to your Ketto fundraiser. You can also download the complete donor list by logging into your Ketto account.

As a crowdfunding platform, we help you raise maximum funds for your cause using the best of technology, support and database.

  • Does Ketto provide potential investors? OR Investors find new ideas on your platform and support them?

About Ketto

  • What is Ketto and online crowd-funding? Why should I sign up for it?

Ketto is a tech company, founded in 2012 by Varun Sheth, Zaheer Adenwala and Kunal Kapoor, and is engaged in the business of crowd-funding, an age-old practice of raising small sums of money from large numbers of people to achieve a common goal. Ketto has given this offline practice an online avatar by using technology and processes to make the activity more transparent and cost-effective.

  • Have NGO's used this service in the past? And how was their experience?

Ketto has grown from strength to strength over the last 3 years and is currently partnered with over 600 NGO's and has assisted them in raising over Rs. 6 cr. between 2013-2015.

Why Ketto?

  • Why should I go through Ketto for raising funds instead of getting direct funding through someone?

Simply, Ketto has revolutionized the way fundraising is done. Ketto is constantly converting donors into fundraisers for 1000+ already registered non-profits in India. We are fun and engaging platform of raising money online, as opposed to raising money via grants. Our social media and email promotion tools can help you market and create social awareness about your programs to a relevant audience allowing you to spend more time on creating social impact rather than spend time on raising funds
. The current cost of fundraising via traditional channels is high(20-40% of funds fundraised). We can help reduce your funding cost to less than 10% levels. Also get rid of the hassle of creating a website (which must be mobile friendly in today's world), hiring website programmers, designers, and social media experts, setting up a payment gateway, etc.

  • Why should an NGO or an Individual(on behalf of the NGO) create a crowd-funding fundraiser to raise funds instead of raising money online directly on my own website?

    Because…

    1. Social Proof: Ketto is fully integrated with social media such as Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, and LinkedIn to help you promote your fundraiser. Individuals are more likely to give to an NGO if family, friends, or colleagues personally ask for support.
    2. Payment Convenience: Ketto supports multiple payment options including credit card, debit card, net banking and cash pick up. Most NGO websites only support a limited number of payment options. Additionally, Ketto's technology ensure minimum drop off during transactions. We are working with the best payment providers in the world to constantly increase transactions.
    3. Raise More Funds: Although a crowd-funding platform is slightly more expensive than donating directly to a NGO website, this cost is justified. The ease of use, convenience, and sophisticated marketing efforts to acquire donors make crowd-funding worthwhile as most NGOs would be able to raise much more money for the same program through a well-executed crowd-funding fundraiser as compared to its alternative (i.e. just donfundraiserations on website). Also, due to deep engagement of users on Ketto, donors (repeatedly) are giving more than ever.
    4. Transparency: A crowd-funding platform brings transparency in fundraising by sharing real-time updates to fundraiser creators on the amount raised from donors. This leads to more accountability as each fundraiser creator has first-hand information to track the progress of the fundraiser and to accelerate efforts if necessary to ensure that goal amount is reached by the appropriate deadline.

How it Works?

  • How to create a fundraiser?

On the Ketto website, click on the “Start a Fundraiser Page in the header and login. Fill in the fundraiser details and click on start.
You can customize your fundraiser by adding compelling images and videos and other details to help it stand out. Now submit the fundraiser.
So once your fundraiser is live, the real work begins! Spread the word by sharing with family and friends on Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, and email.

Now the trick is to convert supporters to donors and collect contributions! We help you spread the word too. And hopefully your fundraiser will reach its goal amount in no time.

  • Can I run more than one fundraiser at a time on Ketto?

Ketto strongly believes in empowering the NGOs to convert their donors into fundraisers. Every NGO should strongly communicate with their donor base to start fundraisers on their behalf as opposed to simply donating to the NGO. We have created special micro-sites for the non-profits which literally acts as their website eg. Ngo-name.ketto.org. All the aggregated activities of the ngo can be viewed in this one place and the page is designed to get as many fundraisers started as possible. If 10 donors start 10 fundraisers, they each attract 10 donors to their page, hence creating a 10x impact in the donor base as well as the money raised.

  • Can I run a fundraiser for the same project on Ketto and another platform?

You can surely do so, however from past experience we've seen NGOs fail due to the two-pronged communication to its supporters. The marketing over-head doubles, and supporters are confused and many a time end up not taking any action. We strongly recommend choosing only 1 platform at a time.

  • How long can I run my fundraiser for?

There is no time limit as such, but generally fundraisers should be between 30-60 days as fundraisers that are longer take very long to get going. People are happy to contribute towards fundraisers that are looking to raise money for immediate needs rather than very long term projects.

  • How do I know when a donor makes a donation to my organisation?

As soon as a donor makes a donation to your organisation, you are immediately notified about the transaction via email with all the details regarding that particular transaction. Please note that you have an updated email address on the Ketto system so you dont miss these emails.

  • How do I know when a supporter starts a fundraiser page for my organisation?

As soon as a supporter starts a fundraiser page for your organisation, you are immediately notified about the same via email with all the details regarding that particular fundraiser. Please note that you have an updated email address on the Ketto system so you dont miss these emails.

  • Is there a limit on how much money I can request?

No. But we recommend you to set realistic targets. Please contact us and we can provide you with further guidance.

  • What happens if a project receives more funding than is requested?

You get to keep it all. Similarly, if you do not meet the target, there is no fine or penalty.

  • What are rewards?

Rewards are items offered by you to incentivize supporters and in a way to thank them for the contribution they made towards your fundraiser. It could be a special thank you note, coffee mug, a badge, public thanks or mention on Facebook and other social media channels or any other thing you may think of.

  • Who is responsible for fulfilling rewards claims?

The fundraiser creator is solely responsible for fulfilling reward claims. We only provide you with the details of the claimants like their name, shipping address etc.

  • Will Ketto assist me?

Yes, we are happy to help:

  • How can my fundraiser feature on the 'Trending Now' and home page?

Ketto believes in merit, based on a complex algorithm of number of visitors, number of supporters, social media shares and funds raised. Based on these, the successful fundraisers will appear on the 'Trending Now' page by default.

  • How important is the content in making my fundraiser successful?

Content is king. We strongly believe that well written content can single-handedly determine the success of the fundraiser. Not to imply that other factors aren't important, but content is certainly critical. Ketto has an in-house creative team that personally overlooks each fundraiser and share their feedback with the campaigners.

  • How important is social media in making my fundraiser successful?

We live in the digital-era, so to neglect the impact of social media would be foolhardy. Social media has the ability to create mass awareness and reach, notwithstanding geographic boundaries and cultures. Using social media efficiently should always be your primary source of out reach. Which is why Ketto allows you to share all your fundraiser information on social platforms through well integrated and dynamic tools.

Absolutely. Being a tech company at heart, we strongly believe in D-I-Y. The practice of 'Do It Yourself' is the way of the future and Ketto has ensured that using the platform yourself is an absolutely easy experience. By following a few basic steps, you can start fundraisers on demand, without the support of the team at Ketto. That said, if you do ever face a challenge, please bring it to Ketto's attention – we take feedback very seriously.

  • Once launched, can I alter my fundraiser information?

With the exception of the goal amount and fundraiser end date, you, as the campaigner, have the power to edit all the content on your page. We encourage campaigners to update the page regularly, give updates, share interesting facts and keep the supporters engaged.

  • Can I make edits on my NGO micro-site?

No, at this point in time, this feature is only available to the team at Ketto. So if you ever want something changed, get in touch with the team and the change will be made within 24 hours.

  • Who would be my point of contact from Ketto? Will a specific relationship manager be assigned to me/my fundraiser/my NGO?

Ketto supports the partners to any degree and in order to do so, dedicates a full time account manager to each NGO, who will be the single point of contact from Ketto for all queries or concerns.

  • How do I access detailed information of my donors?

Once you log-in, you will find an option saying 'Extract Donor Information'.
