Charity Women Empowerment
My name is Kyoko Miura. Originally from Japan, I am a graduate from the Wharton School of Business, I was led to Mumbai, India by a series of life events. I now support SNEHA in its various initiatives supporting women and children in Mumbai’s most deprived informal settlements.
About the Cause
Child abuse and spousal violence are daily reality in our field. Imagine the trauma of little girls who are abused are the agony of their caretakers. We were inspired by the notion of “independence” to start this campaign, in order to step up our efforts to support and protect them.
About the Organisation
Founded in 1999, SNEHA (www.snehamumbai.org) is an Indian non-profit organization that strives to break the cycle of poor health among women and children living in the most deprived slum communities. SNEHA’s Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Program currently runs 11 violence counselling centres across Mumbai, and has resolved more than 3,500 cases of violence to date.
Where will the funds be utilized
My target is to raise atleast INR 50,000, with that sum we will be able to support 10 more victims of violence through counselling, legal, medical and other related interventions.
