About the Fundraiser

Hello everyone,

I'm Piyush Chavan and I'm confirmed  to race at the Asian Continental Championships during 2-6th May 2018 in Cebu, Philippines. I have represented the sport of downhill mountain biking as an Indian Athlete and participated in 7 international races, last year alone.

I also race in the Asia mtb series and I have had a Top 10 result in the Elite category in Malaysia after spending 2 months in training in South east asian circuits.

These races are affiliated with the UCI an international cycling body and I've participated in them to achieve a Min 40 UCI points to enter and race a World Cup!

Earlier we have been supported as an Indian team of two by the Cycling Federation of India for the last Asian Championships held in Xuancheng, China in May 2017.

This year however due to difficulty for the federation to allot funding for the Indian team it has not been possible for some reasons, I have just received this news two days ago and less than a month before our main event. The Cycling Federation has offered help in terms of licenses and registration and are still looking into supporting us but they have advised to use the help of sponsors to fund the trip.

Our sponsors however allot a marketing budget at the beginning of the year for me, along with my full plan of races I intend to participate in, there was no budget being allotted to this event as it is a federation supported event.

An event of this level is of high value to myself, as there is a high chance of earning UCI points, a minimum of 40 which then allows me to enter and compete in a World Cup event in the same season or the next season.

All necessary training and planning has been done keeping this event in mind, except I did not have a plan for such a contingency and was expecting the federation to send a team out as a whole unit.

Your investment in my participation at the Asian Championships will not be as a charity and I will be doing our best to make you feel valued in our support by using our expertise.

Thank you, I look forward to your support so I can only have the race on my mind!!! GO INDIA!
