About the Fundraiser

I, Rajveer Nehra, am a graduate student in physics at University of Virginia, located in the beautiful town called Charlottesville, VA.  I spend most of my time with Lasers and looking at my computer screen to make sense of my experiments. When I am not doing research I like to go for hiking, mountaineering, biking, running, etc. Few weeks ago I stumbled upon the great work by Anand Sankar who founded 'KALAP Trust'.  Kalap Trust ( is working in Himalayan region of Uttarakhand from 2014 and it is the first organization to do pioneering development work in this remote, inaccessible and neglected region of Mori in District Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand (India). The organization started to work first in a small village called KALAP which is inaccessible by road and it was named after this village. It started with the;

MISSION : Improve the quality of life of the communities through sustainable development.

VISION: We work for equal access to education, healthcare and livelihood opportunities, and inclusion for disadvantaged communities.

he region is extremely disadvantaged in access to education, employment opportunities and basic healthcare services. We are working to provide high quality services in education, healthcare and to develop new sustainable livelihood opportunities in this region.

I am running Chartlottesville Marathon on April 7th, 2018 to raise the funds for Kalap Trust Community Hospital. And I have been training for it since last couple of months.

The hospital will serve the primary healthcare needs of 20,000 people living in 35 villages in the remote upper Tons Valley of Uttarakhand India. It aims to provide basic out-patient consultation services through qualified MBBS doctors, diagnostic services (blood tests, x-rays...), paramedic services in remote villages, technology-enabled remote specialist consults and grassroots public health outreach in all the villages it caters to.  More details can be found here :

  What do we need to start operations?

We have found a building for the hospital and undertaken it on lease. We need donor support to pay the rent, build the hospital infrastructure and kickstart the operations of the hospital!

The project is divided into III Phases:

Phase I -- Initial Infrastructure Investment - Rs 15.63/23 Lakhs needed, raised by Dec 15, 2017

Phase II -- Basic Skeletal Operations - April 1, 2018 to Dec 31, 2018 - Rs 50 lakhs

Phase III -- Full fledged Operations - Dec 31, 2018 or earlier

RIGHT NOW WE NEED THE FUNDS FOR PHASE - II, i.e. Rs 50 Lakhs by April 1, 2018

I request to all the compassionate people out there to support me for this great cause. I will highly appreciate any contribution.
