About the Film
The film is a work of fiction and not a documentary. The primal focus of making this film is to let the audience understand that lesbianism is not a disease that needs to be cured; it is as natural as heterosexuality.
Case studies across the globe have chronicled cases of “Corrective Rape” on women who’ve been discovered to be lesbians and as heinous as it may sound – the immediate kith and kin of the girl permit strangers to let the girl get raped, foolishly assuming that that is the only corrective measure for their girl to be cured from lesbianism and she will start thinking “normally”.
This film has no intention of disrespecting any culture or tradition of any clan or belief, however if the film manages to open a debate about the tragic realities it speaks about and changes the mindset of at least a few individuals, it could be termed a success.
“Satyavati” will stand a story of example of why we need to understand each other on levels of “Humanity” more, than inclining our existence on misconstrued and judgmental rules of some traditional influence or preaching of pre-historic literary references.
Whilst writing the script of “Satyavati”, Deepthi had to be precisely careful about the plot of the story, the sensitivity of the subject, and the characters in the story and other minute details concerning the dialogues exchanged and even the expressive interjections used by the characters.

Why Am I Crowdfunding?
Satyavati consists of a team of passionate and creative people who wanted to make a mark in the Movie industry in their own craft whilst helping society on awareness of ‘corrective rape’, a hate crime on homosexuality. We pooled off production with the funds from our savings, the film has just about completed production to a high quality and should complete post-production by end of January 2016. But the bigger challenge begins after that! Our headline question mark remains about how we can ensure a wide reach internationally for a film like this that speaks about such an important tragic reality that exists in society. This is a subject that needs plenty of awareness around it. This is a subject about which a discussion and debate must begin. We are very glad to be playing our role in it. and this is where you could make a difference, not just to us, but the LGBT community worldwide. We need funding to complete post-production and to ensure a wide reach nationally and internationally.
How the Funds will be utilized?
